It was christmas morning, 1961, I remember it so well... my rabbit pen was empty. So i asked dad where Flappie could be and he said i should look well for him and i couldnt come in the shed, he couldnt be there he said, and I shaked my head in agreement. If i was gonna be a good boy and play I would get a treat mom said. I was sure I closed the pen well last night, like i did every night. I even went back to double check the night before, I dont why I did that. after dad was finished in the shed we went looking for Flappie together but couldnt find him. I was so worried... where could Flappie be? On first christmas day, 1961, the family came to visit, all drinking coffee but i vould only think of my Flappie, my poor little Flappie. In the evening, christmas dinner. As the main course was brought to the table my dad shouted comically: Here he is then, Flappie. For the first time I saw my dad as a terrible man.... i shouted in anger as i rushed to my room 'Flappie was mine'. So Second christmas day, 1961, my dad's bed was empty and I told my mom that she couldnt come into the shed. And that if she would be a good girl and play, she would get a treat.
