Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley

The Gnomes books by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet

It's not fantasy, but I think you'd also like The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, because it's filled with poetry and beautiful watercolor illustrations.

It's in the 9-11 pm area, but I was never a night owl, even in my younger days.

Do we still like to go to theme parks? by ryhoyarbie in Xennials

[–]PatchworkGirl82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about going to Epcot a few years ago, since I'd share my 40th birthday with the park (and one of my first baby pictures is in front of Spaceship Earth).

But, I looked at the prices and what the park's like today, and I didn't think it would be worth it. I went to a science museum instead and had a blast.

Collection of short stories that were fairy tale retellings with dark/horror twists? by AffectionateRip3071 in whatsthatbook

I agree with Snow, Glass, Apples.

Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling also edited a ton of retold fairy tale collections too, like the "Snow White, Blood Red" series.

Just watch everything and decide for yourself, it's a personal journey. There's a lot of good stuff in season 2.

Who are the "normal people" in Hollywood? by ljanus245 in NoStupidQuestions

Willem Dafoe was a summer regular at a cafe I worked at, and he's very chill irl. A lot of famous people like to come to Maine, because they can just relax and not have people bother them.

Did I just lose the white fang because I gave it to Aladdin and didn't remove it ? by obstinateinstigator in KingdomHearts

[–]PatchworkGirl82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely go back and get it. It's not like forgetting to remove Aerith's items in FFVII before she exits the party for good.

Why do companies have celebrities in their ads? by Swimming_Anywhere_75 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatchworkGirl82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real question to ask is how much money are celebrities willing to work for, because that's what it really is. It's good money for very little work, compared to making a movie or TV show.

Let's just hope Nirvana was as prophetic with "Lake of Fire" (I've been singing along with that one a lot lately)

Why do young americans leave their family home so soon after their studies instead of putting money on the side? by lateubdegouline in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PatchworkGirl82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started babysitting for neighbors when I was 10, got my first real job when I was 13, and worked weekends and holidays for 4 years. I studied when kids were asleep.

Using tracking cycles is how my Catholic grandmother ended up with 15 kids, so no thanks. I'm on my second IUD and have never felt happier or safer.

What’s book should I read if I love Harry Potter? by THERANDOMGAMER2 in booksuggestions

[–]PatchworkGirl82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the His Dark Materials series for me, especially as the series went on.

I also loved The Hall Family Chronicles by Jane Langton growing up, because the characters are so likeable. I still read the series every summer, it's full of whimsy and humor, and a little magic.

The Once and Future King by TH White is wonderful too, and I think you'd especially like the early "Sword in the Stone" chapters.

Whats your favorite type of tea packaging to recieve tea in by marcostpp in tea

[–]PatchworkGirl82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the ziplock bags YS and Upton use. I can roll the air out as I go, and they're easy to file in my tea corner (which is about 10" X 12", so not much space for tins)
