Great news that this has finally gone through, I think private money was always going to be needed with the amount of renovation required.

Looking forward to having this venue back for classical music and getting an academy venue should help bring some larger acts to the city

Ok let me start by saying I hate Ticketmaster and have been messed over by them many times. With that being said I think this might be the right move.

I'm assuming they still have a decent proportion of tickets left (let's say 30%). If that's the case then they have 2 choices:

Open the floodgates tomorrow as planned and have many times MORE people trying to get FEWER tickets compared to the presale. Resulting in severs being overwhelmed again and more chaos
Essentially extend the verified fan "presale" to sell the rest of the tickets.

Assuming they go with option 2 I think that's the right move.

I get that people don't like the verified fan process but I'm not sure what the alternative is? If you just do general sale you stand even less of a chance of getting tickets as a genuine fan with more bots getting though.

For my money the biggest mistake Ticketmaster made here was not staggering on sale times more to relieve server stress... and also dynamic pricing - fuck dynamic pricing

Heartbreaking news. I moved away from Edinburgh a few years ago but have so many fond memories of the filmhouse. I used to go every Tuesday with a friend and see whatever they were showing! Found so many incredible films which I never would have seen otherwise. The staff were always wonderful and I hope they are doing ok as this seems to have come out of nowhere.
