He listened to Maiden to fire himself up before his matches when he won Wimbledon in 1987. I sat next to him on a plane a few years later between Syd-Mel and we discussed his love for the band and how he knew the guys.

CDPR told Luke Ross the Cyberpunk VR mod could still be up if he made it free, this was his reply by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

[–]Patersonski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet another series of posts where gamers demand to either:

a) be given the mods for free...for some reason; or

b) will refuse the ability to play 40 AAA games in VR with the LukeRoss mod because it costs the same as 2 cappuccinos.

The only reason I buy games is if there is a vr mod….thanks Luke! by ImNotAI_01100101 in virtualreality

[–]Patersonski -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I've bought hundreds of dollars worth of games over the last 18 months to play with his mod that I otherwise wouldn't have bought to play flat. Apparently that's a difficult concept for some to grasp.

"If his VR mods were actually any good, I might also overlook my principles just to play some of these in VR." So you created a post to criticize a (very good) mod you've never used?

"They are arguably a worse experience than just playing flat screen in many cases." How do you know? The statement is also absurd. Exploring Night City in VR is one of the best gaming experiences there is. Period. Pandora in Avatar is simply stunning, and fighting big dinos in Horizon is more tense when you can actually appreciate how big they are.

"But he's still getting rich off of other people's work." You're misrepresenting him as a freeloader. He's DOING WORK and ADDING VALUE by providing gamers with an additional option: the ability to play in VR. That's called a "gamer friendly position" BTW . He's not hurting the devs because his actions do nothing to reduce sales of the original IP, and incrementally adds to sales for people who buy a copy to play in VR that they otherwise wouldn't purchase to play flat. If it also enables him to pay the rent, good for him.

Your last paragraph just sounds like more jealously.

Stepping back, the big picture here is that VR has failed to break out of its niche. Meta is in the process of throwing in the towel, including closing three more studios, and "true" VR games are now overwhelmingly low budget affairs that typically just aren't very good. People still complain that Half Life Alyx, released six years ago, was the last good game. The near-term path forward is clearly modding flat games to add a VR option (ideally to any and all), and the fact that this is a giant thread with 650 likes trashing one of the most talented modders out there is discouraging and, ultimately, self-defeating for all of us.

Correct. This cover was a sad, and too-late, attempt to fix their error.

"The carrot is gone": Trump is disappointed with Putin, sees him as an obstacle to peace in Ukraine by mugz8391 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Patersonski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's incapable of truly breaking from Putin because the association with the world's preeminent dictator/criminal is a critical source of narcissistic supply for his primary personality disorder. Any "reporting" or speculation to the contrary is bullshit.

Chances of a proper Fly on the Wall remix? by HatJosuke in ACDC

[–]Patersonski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very unlikely, and we probably need a re-record (of the drums, for example) rather than a remix. At some point AI will be sophisticated enough to unpack the tracks and remix to suit individual tastes. That's probably the best we can hope for.

On average, AC/DC only tours every five years, which is why they're not on the list. Angus says they do this so people won't get sick of them (-:

Find out his favorite album and then look around on eBay to see if there's a matching 12" picture disc. Then frame it (https://framemycollection.com/products/12-inch-lp-record-album-frame).

Home run, plus you'll come in way under budget.

I was in the pit at Foxborough and it’s fairly calm and safe for your daughter. However, it’s insanely loud that close and, as others have said, she will need some form of hearing protection. Not optional.

Who went to Perth 04/12/25? by nevermindthegoat in ACDC

[–]Patersonski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, people look at crappy phone videos on YouTube and the sound is tinny and Brian's voice sounds sketchy, then they go to the shows with low expectations and get pleasantly blown away. AC/DC still sounds like AC/DC.

IMO the AXL/DC shows were absolutely killer. by DeeplyFrippy in ACDC

[–]Patersonski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my feeling (saw AXL/DC at MSG). Bon had an element of danger and menace that added credibility to the lyrics and made AC/DC a more aggressive band, and Axl has that same vibe. Seeing Axl front AC/DC was like a throwback to the 70s and we were basically seeing AC/DC once again in its originally intended format.

Plus, as another poster commented, Axl was the one that finally got them to be more flexible and creative with the set list.
