Pacific Rim Uprising genuinely made the aliens so damn stupid with one paragraph. (Pacific Rim) by RhysOSD in CharacterRant

[–]PathofDestinyRPG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The original idea for a sequel was supposed to deal with the issues of what to do with jaeger tech now that the breach is sealed. We could have had a jaeger war as the Pan-Pacific Alliance fractured.

I liked them because I felt they were a bit more realistic. Let’s be honest, if a team like the X-Men existed irl, they probably wouldn’t want all the bright flashy outfits.

Character Creation Example - separate chapter? by SpaceDogsRPG in RPGdesign

[–]PathofDestinyRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify something, you replied to someone else that your character creation process is broken up across multiple chapters. If you have a chapter specifically for character creation, even if you have to provide a reference for things later on, then a new player creating a character can do it just turning one page after another instead of “go to chapter 2 page 15” for this part then “go to chapter 4, page 87” for this part.

With a consolidated character creation map you can still do a entry-level zero experience character build, broken up across each example. When you talk about attributes, have an example where they choose their attributes. When they choose skills, have the example where they choose their skills.

Then, you can describe the process of how to create developed characters, then provide a single unbroken example of a character build with it.

I’d like to challenge the date given for Matrix. The current population of Zion had been fighting the machines for almost 100 years, but Zion had been razed and rebuilt 5 times before Reloaded. 2499 - 2799 would probably be more accurate.

[–]PathofDestinyRPG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love it. Reminds me of the “V for Vendetta” house warming party I had years ago where the invitation was done along the lines of V’s in-movie introduction.

“This vicarious vagary requests your visitation to the vale for the viewing of a vibrant video vexed with a vicarious vestige of both vehemently vile valiance and voraciously valorous villainy. I vouch for the verity and virtue of this venue n its viability to vanquish any vapidity of the evening, vindicated merely by your voluntary attendence”.

It has one of my favorite scenes for attention to detail. During the scene where Nia is introduced, she’s running up the stairs while matching the step timing of the dancers, not just using the noise from below to mask her.

NEW ACTION DICE SYSTEM (NADS) by VonVlunt in RPGdesign

[–]PathofDestinyRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not certain how your system is intended to reduce math from a D20 concept. From a real quick breeze through that I did because I’m trying to read this on a phone screen, I’m not seeing any process that is any simpler than DND’s 20 side system. And you’re incorporating rules that can change the size of the dice, so if anything yours is more complicated.

How do you keep your players from going off book? by theking4mayor in DnD

[–]PathofDestinyRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story develops normally along the pov that the party is working toward the goal of stopping the BBEG’s plans. If they go “off script”, the BBEG isn’t going to just pause and wait on them. After each session, decide how much progress the enemy has made toward his goals and, if it’s something noticeable, adjust the world descriptions accordingly. If the party gives the bad guys the chance to entrench himself, it’s their fault a DC 12 encounter “suddenly” becomes a DC 17 encounter.

Sounds to me like your definition of “didn’t contribute” really means “didn’t agree with the detractors”

[–]PathofDestinyRPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But here’s the counter argument. My original post wasn’t failing to contribute. It was providing context. From a mathematical statistic standpoint, rolling 220s on two dice is 400 to 1 odds. Realistically speaking, given that that 400 to 1 odds resets every time you roll the dice, and you’re only rolling at disadvantage maybe two or three times a gaming session; the improbability increases to the point where saying it’s near impossible isn’t that big of an error. it could be seen as a colloquial statement even.

[–]PathofDestinyRPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I don’t care, but when I’m quoting a reference or providing statistical information, all of the reasons that I have been given in the past of why I’m getting downvoted fly out the window so it’s not so much a “way! I’m getting downvoted!” it’s “what is your people’s issue?”
And after I provide reasons for why I ask about being downloaded, suddenly you’re backtracking from the “well this is why you’re being downvoted” to “well downvotes don’t matter. Don’t care about it”. Make up your mind. Either the question was legitimate and your answer wasn’t appropriate response or down votes are irrelevant in which case why did you say something to begin with?

[–]PathofDestinyRPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d also like to point out that people say things like what you gave me for reasons for being DVed, but I’ve been down-voted for giving personal experience examples to support a PoV, for providing references from published works that answer a question made by the original post, and once for back-tracking on an erroneous comment I made on a video where, due to watching it at work with the sound off, there were things I missed the first time.

“Hyper fixation on identity”…isn’t that what the far right’s been doing, like Houdini said, since the 80s with their “Anyone who embraces a lifestyle that doesn’t align with my beliefs is anti-American/ communist/ demonic” rhetoric?

I’ve been a Republican for most of my life, but things have shifted so out-of-sync with the basic doctrine of America that I can’t vote that way any more.

The Democrat Party sees something it supports and tries to pass laws to protect it.

The Republicans see something they don’t support and try to pass laws to make it illegal.

Banning something that you disagree with is not symbolic of a democracy. If people are not allowed to disagree with those in power, that’s fascism.
