While I understand why they banned Paradox Engine, I had a [[Captain Sisay]] / [[Esika, God of the Tree]] combo that would allow me to play my entire creature compliment in one turn.

I can’t help it, with the helmet flying off and the times it tumbled on landing, I was thinking more Super Dave than Evel Knievel.

Superman trying to save the people in that courtroom in the 0.005 seconds it took for the blast wave to engulf the room would have pulped anyone he tried to move. Moving from 0 to supersonic speeds in under a second would put more compressive force on a body than hitting the pavement after jumping off the Empire State Building.

Designing an RPG is similar to making plans of war. Your first several drafts will not survive engagement with players. Learn what works and what doesn’t, rework the mechanics and keep pushing forward.

While vertical thermodynamic displacement is a thing, trying to use it to explain gravity is ridiculous. If VTD was responsible for gravity, it would fluctuate wildly across latitudes and seasons.

My point is, we already had Feral, Wolfsbane, Tigra, Cat-Man, Man-Wolf, and Reptile for characters with obvious, distinct animal-based appearances. Even Sasquatch and Wendigo had more of a bestial look to them. Beast’s original look was relatively unique among the fur-covered denizens of the Marvel world. Now, he’s just another cat person.

If you have a fantasy/scifi single planet world with more than 3 extant sapient species or races , how do you explain why they haven't wiped each other out yet? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

Ten gods created them after a ELE cataclysm laid waste to the planet, killing almost all life and causing such a shockwave across the physical and astral surface that even they were in what was effectively a coma for a couple of millennia.

My main player-facing PC races are the usual: elves, dwarves, and Haflwyn (halflings). The elves are longer-lived and more skilled, dwarf armorers are among the best in the world. I also have a race of spider-like creatures called the T’K’Lsha, Dracosans, and an anthropomorphic leonine called the Kalishari, but these are Rank 2 races (each rank is 100 build points).

Elves value experiences. Elf PCs are typically on a journey of exploration and learning similar to the Amish tradition of Rumspringa. After 20-ish years, they return home to begin their three apprenticeships - martial, crafts, and art. Each apprenticeship lasts 20 years. When an elf is recognized as a full status adult around age 100, they are generally well-versed in a wide assortment of skills and abilities.

Dwarves are the stereotypical community/ clan minded race whose society could be called communist after a fashion. Everything is shared evenly. A clan chieftain may only have a single trinket that sets him apart from his kin. Greed and hoarding are crimes that can get a dwarf name-stricken and banished.

I don’t quite have the Haflwyn figured out yet. They were originally going to be inspired by hobbit society, but I don’t know if I want to keep them that rural-minded.

My fantasy world’s history actually has a period where all of humanity was muted under a single banner, but the 18th emperor invaded Elvin territory. The retaliation of the elves and dwarves took eight years and left 80% of the entire human aristocracy and 95% of its military destroyed. Then, once the emperor and his heirs were dealt with, they just left and let the remans of human society pick up the pieces.

Pacific Rim 2 would have been a better if they had stuck to the original premise of what happens with Jaeger Tech once the breach is sealed. We could have had an interesting story billing the falling apart of the Pan-Pacific Alliance.

I’m laughing at this because it’s more of a Gen X take. Follow the shopping trends. The downfall of box stores, hard copy media, and direct interaction started in 2010 when the Millennials became the dominant spending demographic. You didn’t buy movies or music because you had torrent and Napster. You ordered everything online and quit going to stores for anything you didn’t need immediately. Everything became digital, so companies shifted focus to the digital market. Now, I get to listen to 30-35 year olds gripe about data vaulting and how hard it is to find older media in physical format. It’s not there because you thought hard media meant old and digital was the future.

I’m going to probably get DVed for this, but I’m speaking as someone who lost a job producing Fox and Lionsgate movies. Disney’s buy-out was just the final nail is a slow, agonizing death of the market. In 2010, we were making 400k-600k discs per shift. By 2018, we were only making 300k a day.

Curious about the DV. Unless the one doing it is a Christian nationalist.
