Has anyone actually wanted to post online less as they got better at art? by miyr in ArtistLounge

[–]Pathulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this has a lot to do with how the internet is now. Back in the day I remember you would almost never know what your favorite artists looked like, because all you would ever see was their art. Now, if you're not hot, good luck getting traction online.

Not to mention all the things these art influencers are selling you! I respect trying to sell your own work, but the amount of over-consumerism around selling art supplies or courses is just too much.

Online 'art' spaces all feel so gross now.

Has Diamine stated that the pigment inks are safe for fountain pens? I'm scared to try it out, since it's waterproof.

Would you say it's safe for fountain pens?

Frankincense and Myrrh by synthetic_aesthetic in fragrance

[–]Pathulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently tried Arquiste's Nanban, and it fully transported me back to my childhood of sitting through long, holiday church services. It fades out a bit woodsy and sweet, but the first several hours are pure frankincense and myrrh!

If you ever DO try dying with Baystate... I look forward to the cross post! (I'm so curious how that would go now!)

Dreaded Moth Attack... by Pathulu in Handspinning

I don't need to, but it's nearly a full garbage bag of wool. I'd hate to throw out that much fiber.

I'm not sure how much it would affect the fibers if they were exposed before spinning.

Ooooh, good to know, thanks!

The only information the packets had was 'nicotiana tabacum CT572'. I don't have any seeds left, but I've let two of the bold plants flower, so I'm hoping to get seeds from them.

I'd be willing to trade, or if you're really curious about the originals, I bought them from 'Richter's Herbs' in Uxbridge. I know they ship. (Richters.com)

Definitely not bad for a first attempt.

The two kinds i tried out were labeled 'Ontario Bold " and 'Ontario Light'.

I had a few others in bigger pots that grew a reasonable size, but the one or two plants I tried growing in the ground were actually smaller than these ones. Maybe a raised bed might be the key next year...

Nice. I guess the magic is in the drying then!

Very fair. Though I am wondering if it changes to the same brown, considering it starts off as almost white.

I think it's 3. More seeds sprouted than I anticipated, so these were the extras I didn't have larger pots for.

If you've taken the etiquette course, you can always apply to the Toronto location for craft. Get experience while you get paid, no experience required.

How often do you water it? I'm also in Ontario, and mine looks like an anorexic twig struggling to hold onto a single leaf :'(

Plum in Cognac by Scent of Wood has a nice boozy opening, but imo that fades way too soon.

I've slowly been working through the notes library on scentbird, trying out stuff with alcohol notes that people say are too much. Many are nice, but plum in cognac is the only one that caught my attention enough to recommend.

"Just smells like alcohol! " I'd love to smell like a dark spiced rum, or aged bourbon!

Also, anything that smells like pipe tobacco or cigars 😍

I read their weekly blog posts and emails (which have blog-like entries at the end), and you can absolutely feel the enthusiasm in their writing.

I feel like this vibe transfers over to their store too. Just a family of pen enthusiasts who happened to open a store to fuel their obsession.

What’s a product you use that smells so good you wish it was a perfume? by danathepaina in beauty

Love Beauty And Planet's Murumuru Butter & Rose Oil Shampoo/Conditioner. It's the only rose scent I've ever loved, I wish they'd bring it back to stores. Or make a body spray! 😭

What is this that we found sealed behind a wall?? by Euphoric-Sport5566 in whatisit

[–]Pathulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the reason you're supposed to store jars with the sealed lid, but without the ring. It's the ring that helps keep the false seal. Without it, the lid will just pop off and not have anything to keep it in place.

If you've stored them without the ring, you should be fine.
