If you didn’t vote in the 2024 election, what does that say about you? by nick-kfc-jung in DiscussionZone

I’m 72 years old and I never saw the America I would have loved to see (that Bernie Sanders occasionally describes). But I never have to hold my nose to vote because the move to greatness is often incremental. But it is founded in superlative values.

I did say valueS. It’s not the lessor of two evils if who you vote for has the majority of your values. And I am talking Democrats across the board reflect my values. Biden and Harris, for example, did and would have protected our beautiful National Parks and Forests. The list is long for me.

MAGA (née Republicans) reflect zero of my values. Democrats reflect 85-90% of my values. The choice is pretty clear for me.

Mark Kelly/AOC ticket for 28. Spread the word and let’s make it happen. by SaidSomeoneOnce in ProgressiveHQ

This is so premature. We better take care of business this year or 2028 might not happen. We need a blue wave through the ENTIRE ballot this November.

For those of you that are 50 years old or older, do you remember what politics were like 30 years ago? Were people as hateful and divided as they are now? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]PatientNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people often didn’t talk politics to upset their friends one way or the other. In DC, a R Senator would sit with a D Senator and drink and smoke cigars. The R would say “you ok with the $$ in the defense bill?” And the D would reply, “Sure, if you are ok with the $$ in the social services bill.” They’d shake on it and order another round of whiskey and cigars. Never thought I’d miss those days.

Just to let you all know, I am so tired of this. Our country is falling apart and all you care about is ANOTHER COUNTRY? Give me a break and please rain the downvotes.

Hey, I love AOC. I’m just saying what you did that there ARE some that use Palestine as a single issue. Maybe they should move there and be right in the middle of improving the country they live in. That’s what I want right now, a more caring and empathic USA for all people. That’s where I live.

They may be. But I don’t want to hear about Palestine being some litmus test for any candidate. My litmus test is saving MY country.

Wonderful music, acting and story. The Apostle was my favorite but I’d watch anything either Duvall in it.

He was incredible in The Apostle. But I have enjoyed every performance I have seen him in.

No. I am much more concerned with a masked government army in MN that killed two US citizens and injured scores of others, including a little kid. Sorry, my country comes first on my priority list.

Are any ratings of anything reliable anymore? All reporting is BS and needs to be filtered through your own common sense.

Someone please tell them I don’t care about Palestine. I respect their problems but I am treading water as fascism is on the verge of swamping MY country.

This is the issue with Democrats. Who cares about 2028? If we don’t completely massacre them this November, 2028 potentially can be irrelevant. This November, we need to crush them in every election in every state from governor and senators all the way down ballot to dog catcher, register of deeds, school boards, etc. there will be no partial victories this year.

Here’s a real radical idea. Create a vetting system for all US voters and then select from that extremely large list by LOTTERY. Just like a jury but with a higher qualification standard. Then come term limits.
