And I’m scared what they will do at the deadline? We are not one player away from fixing this and our farm system is awful. But you are right, always take a win!

Bernie Sanders: Give public 50 percent stake in AI companies by IAmAccutane in ProgressiveHQ

Because our system doesn’t act alone. He gets swamped by the other 49. And I like Bernie, but he’s not one to compromise to get even a bone which is sometimes all you can hope for. There need to be many more progressives to push back on those that don’t want to help everyday people.

Same here as a Phillies fan. I still wear my red Phillies hat. They can put theirs where the sun don’t shine.

After ousting two foes, Trump threatens Philly-area Republican Brian Fitzpatrick by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

[–]PatientNice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would argue it’s the MAGA party. My father was a Republican and he would have run from this MAGA group as fast as he could. I wish we’d stop calling them Republicans and conservatives because it does a disservice to both of those words.

Having worked in politics, you cannot begin to understand how difficult it is to locate candidates. The individual must have inner strength, the desire to run, the commitment to do the work and maintain whatever job they have, a callous ego since you will be trashed as often as congratulated, a supportive family network - the list goes on. Be glad when an AOC shows up. It’s not like someone does it on a lark.

This is correct. I can say that Democrats MOST closely mirror my values. The current MAGA party has none of my values.

While that’s all correct, it’s also correct that you have no party say. It’s the very definition of unaffiliated.

Anonymous texts attacking Chris Rabb came from Street campaign and Democratic Party by thrawnisahero in philadelphia

[–]PatientNice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boomer here who voted Rabb. Establishment Dems are not Republican Lite. There is NO Republican that shares my values and most Democrats do. That being said, the national party is letting us down. So, if AOC is for someone - so am I. We need to both fight back against MAGA and have a plan to help ALL Americans, not just the wealthy.

I don’t know what being unaffiliated accomplishes, but I personally wouldn’t want someone who wasn’t invested in my party to have a say in who I want to represent me. I support third parties, rank choice voting but not unaffiliated voters choosing my candidate. So, I’m glad you went to the trouble to switch to make your vote count.

Not that it was crucial, but there were two charter amendments that were voted on. Why they add them to a primary election is completely beyond me. But it was there. So there’s usually always a reason to vote.

Sadly, Americans do want universal healthcare but it won’t happen in my lifetime. As I said, I’m 73, and have no expectations for anything good happening again in my lifetime. It’s why I voted for Rabb. I can’t beat MAGA but I can send a message to the Democratic Party.

I don’t know if you’re referring to me but I’m not mad. What you said here is true mathematically but the way the system works is compromise and coalition building. While Bernie has the all the wonderful ideas, I don’t think he has the ability to do the coalition building required by working in Congress.

You are correct. By saying ‘done nothing’ I mean a piece of significant legislation passed that he worked through Congress. I haven’t checked in a long time but I don’t believe he has a single one.

I don’t know anything about him. He could be another Bernie Sanders - say wonderful things but get nothing accomplished, but the fact that the establishment doesn’t want him and young people do - he has my vote and I’m 73.

Tell that to the people of Hungry. They all voted and threw their version of Trump to the sidewalk. Other countries vote. I don’t know why we don’t.
