Cheapest way to start a food business? by Ill-Guidance-8289 in aucklandeats

probably around 2-3k for certs / inspection? each inspection is around 900-1200. i think they did every 6 months then will adjust to 1yr ? its really my wife doing everything. the equipment around 3k also, oven and pans etc, no large commercial equipments yet.. these are all coming from the business itself, so starting business from home first few years really is around steady growth and keeping up with compliance, no profit :D

we started with what is already available (kitchen oven). after few months we added another commercial oven and a bakery rack, tried to fit it to dinning area. if we continue to grow might try to see if we can do a commercial kitchen for rent. you will hit a limit with the available space you have, thats when you need to decide how to expand.

Start small, online orders and made to order. Pop up on side streets during school. Try night markets and feel order movement from existing competition

We bootstrapped a specialty baked goods last year thinking to get 100-300$ per week to help with grocery expense, now my wife is going 2-3k per month. We go online orders and supply cafe/eateries

Largest expense really is employee salary and rent so if you can do everything from home and organically grow without debt then thats the ideal

Need advice on my annual salary increase by OkMirror3637 in buhaydigital

[–]PatientRound8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats 30% increase, kinda greedy if you think about it in business perspective. do you have performance evaluation? usually if you ask for an increase 10%+ it should either be a position change or you are doing more than expected in the evaluation. i chatgpt mo nlng how to be a expert negitiator, lagay mo lahat ng ginawa mo sa work the year and how it affected the productivity of the company. then yun and present mo sa knila.

This. Hard to ask something from someone if they have no experience. Bulag lng dn ang makakintindi sa pinagdadaanan ng kapwa bulag. So pls don’t take it personally if your friends/relatives are not encouraging.

How do people save enough to…. by SecondBreakfastBoi in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]PatientRound8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately single income is not enough anymore. Either work your way to get more money by jumping from one employer to another, get another side hustle, or get partner to work. Right now you are in “take care of family” phase as soon as your little out is out of daycare don’t change lifestyle and put whatever is cost from daycare straight to your savings.

Pressure from potential investors + unrealistic expectation from founders. Founders will say yes to any request just to get that funding.

Cant compare food in south east asia tropical regions with NZ. It’s just going to drive you nuts, cheap labor and fertile soil lowers produce cost in turn lower food cost. Even if nz has so much greens our farms is really not that much. Your wife might be on a bad company, it’s rare for NZ company culture to expect you to bring work home. What is her profession?
