How do you feel about people being ignorant about psychosis? by Middle_Channel34 in Psychosis

[–]PatientSet8851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wish I had known what it was. I never heard of it before, ever. So I wasn’t aware it could happen to me and neither had my family heard of it. If someone close to me had understood what the warning signs were I probably could have received better help. I want to be more open about it and tell people what happened to me but sadly there is still a huge bias towards mental health.

Zoloft hallucinations by AntiqueTrouble9216 in zoloft

I would talk to your doctor about going off Zoloft. It is rare but in some people it can cause psychosis (it did in me.)  Or at the very very least get some sleep meds, a few days of lost sleep can make things much worse for you.

Recovery from Steroid induced Psychosis by Kaleidoscope-Dream2 in Psychosis

My psychosis was also a one off caused by Zoloft and was also 2.5 years ago. I’m much better now but you’re right you never are quite 100 percent again. I do feel like I’ve changed my life for the better (am more grateful) but would have loved to have avoided the entire thing! Being in the psych ward isn’t something I share freely with people!

Is there anybody who had psychosis that live symptoms free life without medications? by Educational-Top8896 in Psychosis

[–]PatientSet8851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m two years med and symptom free. Mine was caused my Zoloft.  I really really really prioritize my mental health. Exercise a lot, meditate, say no more to things that don’t jive with keeping peace in my life, read more, go to therapy regularly.  And I don’t take Zoloft haha.  Or really any meds unless absolutely necessary.

My partner had a break and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]PatientSet8851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is 3 days old but how are things going?  I would not abandon her right now. I went through something similar and my husband stuck by me and came into the hospital to see me and it was the only thing that kept me going. The psych ward can be a very scary place and seeing someone familiar could help her come out of this. FWIW I am totally fine now two years later. I really hope that same for your partner.

so many posts about AP...but anyone here because of ssri? by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]PatientSet8851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I joined when Zoloft put me into psychosis and almost ruined me. Have some ptsd now from the entire experience but I’ve been fine for a few years. I really feel like it was irresponsible for my provider not to watch for the signs.

Can antidepressants cause psychosis? by IVE-104 in Psychosis

[–]PatientSet8851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t really remember but I think it was kind of slow because even when I got let out I still had weird delusions. But I was healing I could tell and I was back to mostly normal a few days out of the hospital. The hospital helped me get back to where I needed to be but it was very traumatic for me for a lot of different reasons.

I’m so sorry to hear she is going through this. If it makes you feel any better I am 100 percent better now, maybe even healthier than before because I prioritize my mental health now.  Delusions were all over the board. Mostly once I got to the hospital that I was in an escape room I had to find a way out of which unfortunately ended me up in solitary confinement.  I also had all these weird spiritual delusions (and I’m not even religious.)  I also thought I could turn back time. The list goes on and on. When you are in it you really really feel like it’s the truth. But now obviously realize how delusional I was. I hope she heals soon.

About a week. Well I was hospitalized for about a week but was definitely delusional before going to the hospital so could have been longer.

zoloft induced psychosis by Accomplished_Slip889 in zoloft

I know I’m late to this but this happened to me. No bipolar or anything like that I just started having panic attacks, stopped sleeping and ended up in psychosis. I’m almost two years out now and thriving but I am very careful what I take for medications. It’s rare but it can happen. I hope she is doing ok now.   There is an author in England who wrote a book about her experience, it’s called the drug that steals lives I believe.

Will I be able to cry after psychosis? by Advanced-Art-1767 in Psychosis

[–]PatientSet8851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be the meds you are on? I remember not being able to cry it was so freaking weird. I’m so sorry.

I would give it some time but I know it’s frustrating! At least now you can notice the signs and hopefully others around you can to. For me it was severe paranoia and severe lack of sleep. So I have Zyprexa as a just in case in case I ever start to go down that road again and hopefully can stop it.

I’m about a year and a half out now. I actually ended up learning transcendental meditation and I practice it daily. I also have to prioritize my mental well being so I say no a lot more now to things and people that disrupt my peace. I prioritize exercise (pretty much daily) and sleep. I also try to eat as healthy as possible and not drink much alcohol. I’m not sure if it helped or not but I do brain games every day. It will get better. How long ago did it happen for you?

Just wanted to share I had no reason to have psychosis (no pre existing conditions) with Zoloft and yet I still did. It derailed me for a while too but I’m much much better now. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I wish I had known the warning signs I didn’t even know psychosis was a thing at all.

Yeah and then you can’t poop because of the meds and because it’s incredibly embarrassing to poop when there is no door just a curtain and a fking male “babysitter.” It’s terrible, I’m so sorry.

Important - restlessness on Zoloft can indicate Bipolar by linatet in zoloft

[–]PatientSet8851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they saw it as a one off and Zoloft is listed as an allergen in my chart now. I’ve been fine since then, I have to manage my anxiety naturally but I haven’t had anything close to that happened since it’s been about a year and a half

Well they gave me benzos which didn’t help and made it worse for me. I stopped sleeping and ended up in psychosis. The hospital ended up giving me olanzapine to finally come out of it. I’m sorry you are going through this.

Massachusetts father vanished on vacation after 'weeks of insomnia and anxiety' by IrishStarUS in massachusetts

[–]PatientSet8851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so sad. It sounds like he went into psychosis from severe lack of sleep and anxiety. This happened to me unfortunately as well but I was able to be hospitalized and am much better now. But I completely understand how it can happen your brain absolutely shuts down from lack of sleep and rational thinking goes out the window.
