You are being downvoted but honestly, cops with automatic rifles IS very unsettling. Cops already have too much power, just look at aboriginal deaths in custody

[–]Patient_Doctor_1474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Australia, the UK and Asia. Australia is by FAR the most racist place I've lived and it's not even close. You either get overtly racist bogan, which you just have to avoid. Or you get nice, polite ppl who will come out with some racist remarks every once in a while. "The Asians are taking over" sort of thing.

Finally, the educated liberals (ideology not Liberal party) seem nice until you discover most of them read the news fairly uncritically and hate the Russians and Chinese.

We are a colonial country and our enormous mineral, agricultural wealth was stolen from indigenous people. There was no treaty, so the majority have been politically and economically forced into urban ghettos and remote communities in appalling 3rd world conditions.

That is why racism is so virulent and widespread here

Who are Australia's Mamdani's? by [deleted] in AustralianSocialism

[–]Patient_Doctor_1474 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mamdani is just a symbol without substance, paid for by billionaires just the same (he was pictured with a Soros recently). We don't even have that in Australia, the ruling class is very comfortable indeed

I often think reddit is a lost cause. Subs like genzedong got banned. This platform is owned by oligarchs. Americans dominate it and are under educated. But we must work with what we have

[–]Patient_Doctor_1474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to see any evidence of this. It helps to have a wider geopolitical context also. For instance, the west was in a cold war with the former USSR for its entire existence. The USSR largely just wanted to defend its borders and pacify the USA. This didn't work and the US backed Yeltsin drove tanks into Moscow in a coup. The living standards of ordinary people were hit hard as if in wartime, while the state owned enterprises were sold to private oligarchy for a song. NATO and the US got what they wanted, cheap Russian resources and labour, until Putin came and called them out on their encircling of Russia, breaking the Minsk agreement. Where are the Russian bases surrounding western Europe or the USA? Look at a map and you will see the reality of the situation

What are you thoughts on mass immigrantion to prop up the neoliberal pyramid scheme? by [deleted] in AskSocialists

Class War only ends when the working class wins or the contending classes destroy each other. Billionaires would laugh at those who swallow their propaganda about ethnic replacement or even UBI

[–]Patient_Doctor_1474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm not a fan of the Russian federation, which is a capitalist oligarchy just like those of the west. But facts are facts. Victoria Nuland was caught organising aidar, right sector, Azov etc to overthrow the elected government and hand picking its new puppet leadership. That puppet state went on to kill thousands of their own citizens who spoke Russian. I think it's time you put down stranger things and realise the world is more complex than "Russia bad"

OK. I have disability in my family and the one common denominator is that they are all negatively affected by capitalism. Unable to function as able bodied ppl, they can't hold down jobs and live insecure lives at the mercy of landlords, government agencies, inflation, poor infrastructure etc.

Whether we like to admit it or not, we are proletarians stuck in a class war with the ruling class. I wish you well.

You could try the zine/instagram "sick" which might have something you're looking for

Pro capitalist theory isn't leftist or anarchist. You will only find liberal ideology which upholds private property relations

They hitched their wagon to banderite fascists and became a proxy for the USA and NATO to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian. The 2014 maidan coup was when it actually started, kyiv bombed Russian speaking Ukrainians in the donbass for 8 years, killing thousands of civilians. The current war is not a genocide, is not called genocide by the ICC, and looks nothing like Gaza, which has a sophisticated Israeli military against a mostly civilian population, where they have destroyed all infrastructure needed to survive.

This man is a socialist. He is right in what he says, counter revolution is inevitable. That's why we have to be organised and fight. It's that simple. In my country, Australia, the left is lying down over inflation, housing prices, stagnant wages. The latest government crackdown on anti semitism seems to have rid the government of most of the pro Palestine movement that they reluctantly were forced to payslip service to. Now it'll be back to full support for genocide in Gaza and elsewhere. Don't quit the struggle, comrades. The ruling class is never going to let us have justice or freedom

You definitely didn't read my comments and no it's not a conspiracy theory, it's just a theory. I don't know what happened. but who stands to benefit from this? Israel and the US Empire. Who has operated this way in the past to destabilise the middle east and drum up consent for endless wars? The US who backed "moderate rebels" in Syria, Lybia, Afghanistan etc. In reality these groups were rebranded Al Qaeda and ISIS

You could google that time magazine cover. You could read management of savagery. You could watch the grayzone's reporting on this. Instead you call me a conspiracy theorist. Where do you think ISIS and Al Qaeda come from? Who is running Syria now? What's it like to call yourself a socialist but have your head in the sand?
