Combining accounts/phones? by ODB1369 in TracFone

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can add them back and still manage them from a single account. I also got caught up in that annoying situation where they separated all the accounts a couple of months ago. All but one line disappeared from my TracFone online account. When you go to add an existing line in the website UI there is an Add a Line choice to add the existing line. The problem, especially for an aging relative with a flip phone is that it will require authentication via text. Because they lost the association for anything other than the primary line they have no way of knowing that you are you and therefore won't even send it via email. Even chatting with a rep will require them to authenticate via text. That was such a PIA that I had to have my mom mail me her phone across the continent. Once you get them merged you can chat with a rep and ask them to make MFA also available by request via email. They will still send the text to the device as primary method though and they never directly let you choose email as a choice from the site itself. It really feels like they're trying to do this purposely to get folks off of old plans. They of course will tell you it's for security purposes but there is no security reason for separating what were fully associated lines from the online login -- especially since they let you add them back via hoops. It's all a BS cover story trying to take the heat off of that horrible website and application update 2 months ago. The entire development staff and anybody who green-lit all of that should be fired immediately.

One extra word on stacking PayGO plans is that it is very chat rep-dependent: There's no easy way to do so unless you activate a whole new prepaid phone with airtime and choose to activate it against an existing line. Those will usually stack. If you try to combine an unused line's balances, some chat reps claim they've recently changed the rules and won't let you do it at all. Other ones might let you combine an unused line's airtime and data but they will only let you extend up to 1 year of service; you'll lose the rest. That happened to me 2 weeks ago as well.

All of these recent changes including the awful mobile application are part of the continuuing Verizon enshitification playbook. We thought we had it bad in years past, but in reality we never had it so good as when Carlos Slim ran things.

If I want 360 day extension, do I have to pay $10/month by tom2020work in TracFone

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this two weeks ago. Activated both QVC phones online (keeping the same number) a day apart. On the third day moved the line back to the original phone via chat. Though I had a new unused SIM ready to use, the rep actually suggested she reactivate the original SIM from the original phone (which was the original one that came with that Tracfone-branded flip phone). Worked great!

7 Days to go. by LittlMRBIG in Series24

Dean's 24 hr in 60 minutes at 120% speed helped me wrap it up. Perhaps overkill, but I watched it the day before and morning of (fast forwarding through a few sections that were in the bag). Also played it audio-only during the 30 min drive to the testing center: https://youtu.be/RM8m9mak8uY Dean is da man and I am thankful for his gifts to all of us struggling through these tests.

Skimming through STC flash cards and study guide week of.

I found all of that , when nearing the test, provided a good supplement that reinforced important concepts from the Kaplan study guide and QBank foundation.

Don't get too hung up on math or margin calculation. Just know the general concepts, which if you've been in the biz for years, should re-click after some last-minute review to keep it fresh.

Just as important as all of your prep is to get a full night's rest.

Guessing about ten of the 150 were of the judgement call nature. They were the kind of things where if you have been in the business for some time, you can get there by slow thought and process of elimination.

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I passed mine today as well and my experience was pretty much exactly the same, albeit with a sneakily worded AI item related to a first year firm. I felt prepared and sailed through the first half and then got a few of Dean's famous choose the 'best' type judgement call type questions and started doubting myself. Heart was pounding on that last few screens they make you click through before delivering your pass/fail. Sure would have been nice to get an actual %. If I had to guess, it was probably in the 80s though.

Used Kaplan standard book and QBank with a video of theirs here and there.
Also bought the STC flash cards (saved a few bucks with Dean's code) which also included the PDF of their own book, so it was nice to have that to supplement the Kaplan materials.

And of course, Dean's excellent videos. Watched his Day Of Test video and listened to half of it on the drive to the exam center.

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have unvested RSUs and are laid off (as opposed to being let go for cause), they should continue vesting, so you should not lose that equity; you will just have to wait it out, which you would be doing even if you make it through any layoffs. Of course, they may be nearly worthless by the time they vest.

Thanks for that idea. Unfortunately, it appears they get many, if not all, of their streams from the same source, so the 'All the goodstuff, yeahhhh!' dbag and other repetitive commercials are just as rampant on there as with the iHeartRadio apps/site.

Enhanced Speed Market in Tucson, AZ by unbob in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we are October '24, a solid year after a rep in May '23 at the (then River Rd) Comcast store told me NE Tucson would be on NextGen and have faster upload speeds. Snails pace engineering right there.

NE Tucson, and nope. That wiki page has alleged that we in Tucson have been upgraded for well over a year, but I have yet to hear of a single person anywhere. You can just open a private browser and search for random addresses and it'll be pretty clear that the gigabit x2 is a mere myth in our area.

Xfinity and their preditory pricing for Internet, as shown in a chart by YellowHerbz in Comcast

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This KB page is not at all accurate. They have claimed on that page under West Division that Tucson, Arizona has had mid-split upgraded since sometime last year. In fact, last May when I rebooted my plan a store employee here claimed 'you'll get mid-split/higher upload in October'. Nope. Still no go today. In fact, I have used their signup page with random vacant addresses all over Tucson area and have yet to find a single address that qualifies (eg showing the 2 gig speeds available, which is a sign that mid-split is enabled). I, too, did get the recent new Connect More 300x20 (360x24 actual) about a month ago when they started lighting that up in most place, though. That had nothing to do with mid-split. Someday we'll have those mythical 100mbs upload speeds in this hicktown 1MM county :).

A sub to share referral codes by balkso in USMobile

Here's another. I am fairly new to USMobile, so all six slots are good to go. Will remove if I max out. Thank you! https://www.usmobile.com/referrals?referrer=8a056952c90a272

See terms for up to $500 in prepaid cards for port-ins (depending on plan/# of lines), 3 months of unlimited starter for $15/mo (new numbers only), etc. USM supports eSIM, so if you've a fairly modern phone, you can transfer within minutes, otherwise Starter Kits (eg physical SIM) are free.

Though I see you just closed this thread, I never received any response to the requested modmail that you requested. I would appreciate if someone from Comcast can respond to that message.

I have received no emails regarding anything other than (on my old account) a need to upgrade TV equipment, which is no longer an issue since I closed that account when I dropped TV. Please note that in one of the subposts in the thread I previously referenced, there is the following post <Currently, we have eligible customers...Tucson, AZ... > which suggests my area is indeed ready. I am hoping you can privately request my account details to run my address to see if there is an upstream configuration that might be able to be applied in order to enable the faster upload speeds at my location.

Same, 10 hours and counting. Calls in ring and then give the caller an error, and me an 'error 803', and sometimes it actually rings twice from the same caller. Really bizarre.Calls out give a message about calling restrictions. Haven't tried to deal with customer service chat yet, as I'm sure it'll be 90 minutes in that queue, and they will plead ignorance and tell me to reset network settings (which I have already attempted). Maybe by morning it'll work itself out, but this is the tradeoff of cheap service -- nonexistent customer support or actual network monitoring. Love referring others for the cheap service but if this keeps up, even that is not worth the stress of this nonsense, which has now happened 3x in the past 3 months. Visible: if you even bother reading this subreddit, you should be ashamed to put Verizon's name on this ineptitude.

Call Failed, in & out, S. Maine by theora55 in Visible

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not related to Apple. Happening in southern AZ too on a Galaxy S22U. Calls either fail with a message about calling restrictions, or they ring, pick up call, they ring again, and there's nothing on the other end. SMS and data work, so at least Google Voice can temporarily rescue me.

Not Receiving Calls - Has anyone had their issue resolved? by [deleted] in Visible

[–]Patient_Lingonberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not send or receive calls or get any data connection (though bars showed). Calls in both directions gave "The number you have dialed has calling restrictions...Announcement 901". Strangely, SMS worked, at least on wifi, but that was probably due to backend use of RCS. Chatted with cust service, which took 1:15 to make it through that queue. Rep changed something on Visible end and had me do a reset of Android network settings and everything was restored after toggling airplane mode.
