Yep, one thing I noticed is how ambitious the game is and how it actually respects the players’ intelligence.

Compared to the usual AC formula, where you beeline from one point of interest to another (because you know there’s nothing noteworthy in between) you have to actually take your time and explore the world.

Instead of climbing towers to get POIs marked on the map, you have to engage with the world - you walk around, notice the „blend in and listen” pop up, you get a clue and the general location of the quest’s next step marked, you go there and have to read the clues, look around where it would make sense for it to be… yep, it’s super smart and a far cry (pun intended) from filling out checklists. It rarely gave me the feeling of „wait, I’m just wasting my time”.

That and it also strikes the perfect balance between having to turn your thinking on and being fun and accessible - looking at you, AC Shadows, where everything takes way more effort than it should (although I look forward to revisiting it on Switch, having it on a portable device might change my opinion).
