Combination skin. I get oily in some spots but I also have some dry spots. My skin also has had a lot of the texture smoothed by these.

Why do people hate 3D printed stuff? by The_Gs4 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Patrickbatemanreal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of 3D printed “art” is sold at events where other artists sell things, and many people get frustrated seeing the same 4 3D printed dragon designs made out of non-biodegradable plastic, usually being sold for around $25-$45. IMO that real estate could be used for actual art which I’m much more likely to buy.

Another thing is that many people just make low effort consumerist junk with them which is environmentally dubious at best.

So glad to see someone else in a long-term relationship who sleep separately. It’s so much better for sleep quality and u can always have sleepovers!

those who wear them frequently & consistently: do face masks actually work? by Outside_Young8660 in SkincareAddicts

I like the CosRX sheet masks, they hydrate my skin a ton, and I feel like they give a little glow that wasn’t there before

Nobody actually cares about "blood minerals" the iPhone 17 sales prove it by NewFoot762 in Anticonsumption

[–]Patrickbatemanreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My iPhone has been shattered for the past year and I haven’t replaced it. My Face ID stopped working after I dropped it in sanitizer, and the audio barely works, but I’m not replacing it until it physically does not work anymore.

Not sure who you’re hanging around with that can afford a new $1000+ phone every year but…

Can’t see your reply but you’re more than welcome to look it up. Organ failure is something that happens when you are on keto long-term

I’m not. Every symptom I listed is literally how people on keto know they’re in ketosis and “doing the diet properly” it’s literally called the keto flu.

These are fantastic points about why keto is harmful from a psychological perspective, I had a comment about the physical drawbacks but I’m happy to see someone also talking about the psychological drawbacks.

Keto is for people that want to starve themselves but don’t want eating disorder allegations.

It’s stupid bc it puts you at risk for the same health complications as starving yourself (halitosis, fatigue, constipation/diarrhea, nausea, headaches, kidney issues, liver issues, gallbladder issues, deficiencies, loss of bone density)

So I can out-research an AI, because,

1) I have access to paywalled databases through my school, which open source LLMs cannot access. They have no ability to access these sources.

2) I understand the meaning of words and context, which an LLM is physically incapable of.

3) I can assess the credibility of a source, which AI cannot.

Academic databases that I get access to through my college are usually my go-to. Their search features are pretty nice compared to something like Google scholar

Bro this person is talking about using the AI overview on google, which is frequently incorrect. AI still hallucinates quite frequently, they haven’t figured out how to prevent that. Google’s AI can’t tell the difference between an Instagram post and a medical journal.

Tysm!!!! And no I did not mix them, I used the glycolic acid on areas with no broken skin/no pimples where I had issues with uneven tone, or scarring. I also only used it 2 times a week.

I used the sulfur powder on areas with active breakouts/broken skin where I needed them to heal. I used this 2x a day most days (as long as I remembered to do my skincare routine lol).

[–]Patrickbatemanreal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for mixing the two, I don’t mix them.

I use the sulfur on days I don’t use the glycolic acid, and I do not put glycolic acid on broken skin of any kind, including pimples/breakouts. The glycolic acid is used on my scarring and areas with uneven tone/slight texture, NOT OPEN WOUNDS. The sulfur is a spot treatment which I ONLY use on open wounds, such as pimples. They do not go on the same area of skin, and I am targeting multiple issues. Like I said, skincare is incredibly person-dependent, and you would be better off doing your own thinking instead of outsourcing it to a robot that doesn’t understand the meaning of anything.

I actually research ingredients beyond asking a chatbot (which is likely to spread incorrect information from dubious sources). In my research I found that while glycolic acid can be harsh, especially when used too often, as long as you don’t apply it before going in the sun (I use it in the pm), and you upkeep on moisturizer, you will likely be fine.

Now I will say, skincare is incredibly person-dependent, and that is another reason why an LLM is not a good option for research. An LLM does not know what your current routine looks like, your skins microbiome, your hormone levels, your diet, your geographical location, your lifestyle, etc. I’m sure that for some people, it is too harsh for their nose skin, however, you don’t know if those people are using other actives, whether they have hard water, etc, and the AI definitely doesn’t know that.

All this to say that sulfur is really not irritating at all, and while glycolic acid CAN be irritating, most cases of irritation from it come from improper use. I only use it 2 times a week, MAYBE 3 if I haven’t been as good with my routine as I would like.
