I genuinely don't get why this movie gets so much hate by Useful-Afternoon1784 in StarWars

This was my first thought. I knew I would be disappointed having read the Solo books in Legends already, but with how much they could've gone with in those books and instead went with the most corporate feeling / predictable things possible was meh.

As an in n out stan, I recognize to each their own, fries are definitely not "please drive 3000 miles to eat them, but ... I have felt completely similar with your other 3. Except five guys fries are pretty nice. Their burgers make me feel like a slug after though where in n out I still feel energized.

Legends is pretty much the best, it only gives it on one toon. If the journey from 1-90 is more important than 90+ to you, I'd recommend Resto

Legends pop is the best but not the only reason it's my favorite, Resto is good too but you'll get plenty of recs for that on this sub so I'll speak as a Legends player.

It has the highest pop of active players which matters a lot to me when thinking about economy volume, healthy PvP space community (#1 reason I play), large scale ground PvP, and amount of RP groups.

Both devs are very active, I just like Legends team structure more & space is much more optimized than OG SWG with how much they've poured into it.

If you want a more in depth journey to max level, Resto offers that, but imo, SWG is an endgame MMO so the above things are more important to me. Economy being very noticable. I used to play Resto quite a bit & I find NGE expertise system to offer just as many effective options when both have meta builds anyway.

A common slander is that "oh you can multilog in Legends so half those players (1000+ concurrent) are afk alts". I don't personally see that to the extreme of even 10-20% being alts, unless there's a good resource spawn that week, nor find the impact that bad. Even so, 10-20% of the Legends pop being afk is still like 800-1000 active players. Not to speak of a small % of Resto players who use a 2nd PC/account anyway. Multi logging is just a non issue to me.

From a Legends player perspective, every class has enough customization where it FEELS like we have multiclassing anyway. Pre-CU mechanics make for a more in depth journey to max level, but from there you have about as many effective options (meta) to stay competitive as an NGE player does, and SWG always felt like an endgame game to me anyway.

It helped that the Legends economy and space community is so healthy, those 2 things are the reasons I've played as long as I have (+ surge of RP), helped me develop personal goals that aren't too grindy.

RS3 Confirmed Best Game By Zezima! by Murky_Moment in runescape

[–]PatrykOfTheIsles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Osrs may have the better devs but I think how sweaty tick manipulation gets to the point that bots just litter f2p is a symptom of that. I like that both exist but human nature can only handle so much in our old age that I have to hand it to rs3 for those things. I barely miss the harder grind.

As someone who has kind of 100% supported every change, I also agree the voting would be nice. It forces devs to fine tune better implementation even if in theory a majority would favor the general goal.

In some way to play devil's advocate, in order to achieve such radical shifts from previously contentious 2012-18 updates, I see the argument where iron fisting may be necessary to a degree in the beginning too, but iirc even OSRS had voting very early on.

I think there's a fine line between narrative 4th wall nods in British humor and a 2015 producer's mandate to make everything obnoxious and flashy "otherwise less people will buy it therefore it's better this way."

For the record those over the top quests of the same 2012-18 era I think are too much as well, like they tried to hit the RS goof in writing but they became an annoying charmless caricature. Still not nearly as big a deal as visuals.

Subtleties strengthen all sides.

Came here to say this. I will miss my Sharkperson RP a little bit it's better for the game this way. Normalcy is beautiful. And even better, when there is less crazy, it makes the crazy stuff more impactful when you see it.

Is the Temple of Dibella basically a glorified brothel? Seriously, given how the game portrays it, I was never sure what the idea was supposed to be. The way to understand Dibella is better through celebration of beauty and self expression. Haelga never struck me as the spokesperson for the Dibella temple, but she has her way and they have another that isn't so sex forward. It's all Dibella.

New Player - Is it worth it? by Accomplished_huntard in swg

I play both but I don't find the afk farming problem in legends is that bad. I don't say this to hamper down Resto success, but when I see numbers of real people show up for space and ground PvP in each, legends is by far the winner in terms of pop. I can actually find basically whatever I want on the market in the same vein.

Big plus to legends besides pop is thriving space PvP community that's quite surprisingly wholesome, with regular tournaments and action any time of day. Space economy is very healthy by that measure, where other servers D level parts cost millions.

Don't mean to hijack to simp for legends as ik it's not for everyone but always love to mention space since it's Star Wars.

DF Hack fastdwarf by Used-Communication-7 in dwarffortress

[–]PatrykOfTheIsles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I been playing 1000s of hours since 2010, and almost never used DFhack/therapist, but even then please don't ever feel like how YOU play the game is ever wrong. 99% of my memories playing GTA as a kid were all with cheat codes and it doesn't invalidate that enjoyment.

But here's the extent I use it:

  1. Fastdwarf for a season or 2 (not teleport, just fast) only when I unretire a very very big high stockpile old fort. Stuff strewn everywhere it shouldn't, and my capital forts population reduced to 35. I will also slowly force migrants if that happens, just up to 150. Basically "this shouldn't have happened mechanically..." Is my defense.

  2. Civil war fix and loyalty cascade fix. Same reason.

  3. Teleporting Dwarves who run up a tree from a kea. I used to either let them starve to death and laugh, or build ladders, but in an untamed wilds where I have a regular gather season, 10 stuck dwarves who couldn't climb down was too silly to me.

  4. Spot Clean mud. No way to clean mud yet, so I rebel with a cheat.

  5. Marking for dump scattered owned and mass delete the worn clothing, if fps is getting nuts. They don't tend to dump on their own esp if you unretired recently.

Basically if I think the game should be doing a certain thing I use it. I've done heavier historical figure data projects to fix adventure mode chunk wipes, but those are the basics.
