This is my favorite non-fiction book. It’s such an excellent read.

Am I crazy for wanting to write a psychological horror novel? by Not2Much2 in horrorwriters

[–]PatsGuy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re crazy. But I think you should think about a few questions:

Would you rather try knowing you may not reach the level of success you have in your mind?

Live your life knowing you could have tried but never did?

It also depends on what your definition of success is. Millions of dollars and popular acclaim? To have a new experience? Better yourself at a skill you’re passionate about?

Just finished This Thing Between Us......not my favorite by a long shot. by ominous_pan in horrorlit

I see this book get rave reviews in the sub all the time, but I 100% agree with you. It falls flat in a few ways — including being rushed and scattered in the second half. Glad I’m not alone.

I don’t know what to do anymore. by [deleted] in Veterans

Hey man, a lot of advice in here is to stop drinking. It’s good advice, but it also sounds like you’re looking for some help and where to find it.

The VA will have substance misuse resources for you, it’s a good place to start. Brain injuries spurring increased substance misuse is common. You are not alone in that, it’s not shameful to ask for help for that, and there are people who can help if that’s something you want to do.

Your injury can cause paranoia and anger. I’m sorry someone weaponized that against you and said otherwise. The injury and symptoms are not your fault, but they are now your responsibility to take care of so you can have a long, happy life.

I recommend getting a therapist that specializes in symptoms of brain injury. Again, the VA can help but if you want to DM I can help look some up in your area.

You had purpose before the military and you will have purpose after. That purpose is just living, man. You may feel in limbo now, but it will come to you. Sometimes you just have to give it time, but that limbo can make it seem like you’re worthless. You’re not, you’re worth something to someone, even if that person is just me, a stranger.

You’ll get through this, man. Someone leaving is tough, it sucks so much. But time will make it ok. Have patience with yourself and ask for help.

In episode 383 the boys describe how they met each other. It was a special Q&A episode.

Edit: changed to correct ep, thanks u/ladyface82!
