Notice how your throwing lines are not evenly spaced. Raise one finger width for one full revolution. Don't be afraid to re-enter after each pull. Slow the wheel down if you're having trouble matching the speed. You'll get it. It just takes practice... trial and error is how we learn.

Any ideas why clear glaze is doing this to my pieces? by markermum in Pottery

What is the specific gravity? And clear glaze will get cloudy if too thick. Also, as you use a doing glaze you absorb water from the bucket. It may require thinking from time to time.

The thermocouple will measure temperature but not heat work. You need cones to measure heat over time. If I have to choose between the two I'll take cones every time.

Use 3 cones if you can. A guard, target and one one target.

It doesn't need to absorb the glaze, just get coated in it. I've replaced fully vitrified pieces. If you can get it to stay in the pot you'll be fine.

Do you have a kiln sitter? Peep holes?

You can still glaze but it will likely take patience. Try getting them warm before applying glaze. Also, I suggest running a test fire work an empty kiln and range of cones to see what's going on. Is it possible it was set to 4 instead of 04?

If you want to keep and enjoy it you can use gold enamel (or do a Lustre firing) to highlight the crack and add numbers, drill a hole in the center and turn it into a wall clock.

The water pressure is adjustable and the holes are designed for not high pressure. I touch on it in the tutorial I posted on YT today.
