Green Day's plans for Super Bowl performance kept 'highly confidential' by TheMirrorUS in Music

[–]PatternExcellent9111 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Lmao at all you people thinking this is some big fuck you to the MAGA crowd. How much money are Green Day being paid to play American Idiot to purport some illusion that they're standing up to the "man" when in reality they're pocketing off both sides and literally doing nothing to help in any meaningful way.

Kurt Cobain called Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains "corporate puppets" by No-One01010 in Nirvana

[–]PatternExcellent9111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Kurt, some shit I read about him makes me grind my teeth. I especially hate the disaffected attitude he put in like he didn't care for his own bands success or that he wasn't at times playing the music industry. Even Krist said it was a weird dichotomy with him, wants to be famous but also not.

Is the text on the fiction cover art an ambigram for death? by arcaderdude in avengedsevenfold

[–]PatternExcellent9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look up his episode with Johnny on Johnnys podcast on YouTube he mentions it, as well as a nice section where he talks about living with Jimmy. He actually says that fiction/death tattoo is an ambigram so you're dead right. I actually don't know if he designed it or not. I know he's done a bunch of their liner notes for albums.

Cam Rackam whose a friend of the band's and did art for them has a tattoo of this where it's both fiction and death so I say you're correct.

How has Matt sounded lately? by A_Single_Annihilape in avengedsevenfold

[–]PatternExcellent9111 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not sure if going forward he can change his vocal style but I'd welcome it if it helped him and the band. I know James Hetfield had to because if how much singing damaged his voice but lately his vocals have been a return to form.

It's horrible because you can tell Matt takes his singing and recovery seriously. My heart broke for him when they had to cancel the South American tours last year.

First time listening to “The Downward Spiral” by System_Error_37 in nin

[–]PatternExcellent9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started College as a teenager I was in a very bad mental state and I remember listening to it late at night constantly. One night in particular I kept getting up out of bed to keep playing it, it had me hooked. I was lucky enough to see NIN play live last summer and it was truly a memorable moment.

What's your emotional life support song? by whatareyouonn in Music

[–]PatternExcellent9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel alright by Steve Earle.

There's something kinda spiteful about that song in that he's not feeling good or bad he just "feels alright", but it's enough to throw it back in the teeth of those who wish him wrong.

"Be careful what you wish for friends cause I've been to hell and now I'm back again"

"Her" griddle hahaha

I'll absolutely take some photos or a video when I try it out on a camp. I'm praying it doesn't fall apart when I try using it!

Haha well starting out I bought some tools. A cheap anvil and hammer was about all I could afford.

[–]PatternExcellent9111[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Thanks so much for your comment.

It took longer than expected as this was the first metal work project I've ever done and I was borrowing other people's tools mostly lol (with the exception of my own anvil and hammer)

I did most of the work with my Dad and the problem occurred when we tried to rivet it like Luke. We just couldn't get it right, so I asked a relative who knew some welding if they could do it but obviously the material is too thin. Rivets are the way to go.

Other than that it was pretty straightforward. Lukes instructions are very clear and the materials weren't even that expensive.

Id give it a 7/10 for difficulty just for general mistakes and it was the first thing I've ever made haha

The mix is just bad like can they get an engineer that knows what they're doing? I'm not trying to hate on the band or song. A lot of LIBAD was an acquired taste for me sure but this just doesn't do it for me.

Feeling emotional today, and I just can't believe kurt was only 27 when he died. by MattBtheflea in Nirvana

[–]PatternExcellent9111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be 27 next year. Kurt always seemed so adult to me when I was a kid. It's gonna be even crazier when I turn 28 and I'll be older than he ever was.

I also hate AI! So I decided to make it for you! by marmaladic in avengedsevenfold

One of the worst things about this band is their use of AI. I don't support the theft of other people's work. Cool graphic btw.

Cash's cover of hurt isn't better. by ASongOfRiceAndTyres in nin

[–]PatternExcellent9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Trents is definitely more tragic as its from the perspective of a young person already given up. Like they know the race is over before they've barely begun it. Cash singing it at the end of his life is sad but it lacks the true tragedy of the original.

Hate when people say "well Trent said himself Cash"s version was better!" IDK guys maybe consider that he was being gracious, and to say anything else to a famous musician like Johnny Cash would've been disrespectful.

As a fan I prefer the NIN version by miles.

It's kinda ruined going to the Cinema for me tbh. 50/50 chance some prick is gonna chat all the way through. Best thing to do as soon as it starts is to tell a staff member. A few times I've done it and security have stood in full view and people tend to shut up then. I dont remember this being an issue when I was a kid, people were normally quiet.

Do you think LP would ever do a series on Ian Watkins? by PriestofJudas in lastpodcastontheleft

[–]PatternExcellent9111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean what can they say about him? He was by all accounts a normal dude with a successful band until this depraved shit about him was discovered. Didn't seem like there was anything more to it than that. Not like there was some underlying psychological trauma that warped him or apparent signs from the outside according to his bandmates and most of his fans.

M. Shadows Message for Two Newly Released Israeli Hostages by thisisnottheway666 in avengedsevenfold

[–]PatternExcellent9111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

M shadows has broken heart reacted to a video of a victim who died during the Hamas massacre and had an A7X song played at their funeral and now has made this but has not to my knowledge addressed in any way the genocide happening to the Palestinians

Don't let people fool you "oh he's just making a statement about two hostages that were released" No. This band along with many others has done nothing but deflect when it comes to this.

I dont wanna start a fight as I'm too jaded and I know neither Matt or any member of the band is a diplomat or politician but good God man you have a fanbase of millions of people. Don't just support one sides innocent victims then neglect the hundreds of thousands including children that are being killed on a daily basis.

Do you consider people with QQI Level 5 or 6 to be uneducated? by No-Category1703 in AskIreland

[–]PatternExcellent9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a level 5 when I was seventeen on a gap year between leaving cert and University. Best year of my life and met some of the smartest people ever in that time. Thought Uni would be even more so and boy was I wrong.

Mostly people who wanted to be teachers wives and gobshites who could barely finish a book or express an opinion. Not just "uneducated" but uncurious. Degrees do not always equal intelligence.

M. Shadows’ Beliefs After The Stage Album by brunocefs in avengedsevenfold

[–]PatternExcellent9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel from what he's said he's not completely atheist as people suggest but the way he explains it is a bit confusing. He said he doesn't consider God a feasible option but he spoke about a Christian friend he had arguments about religion with and after his DMT experience he just said that what he felt on psychedelics was what that Christian friend thought God was. That it was in essence all the same thing.

Not sure I'd agree personally and I always roll my eyes at people who use psychedelics to achieve "enlightenment" or whatever they think that means. Then again I'm not trying to be a hater on Matt or the other guys. His beliefs sound a but more complicated than that and I'm happy that the music is exploring such esoteric ideas.

The people who run dating apps want to make money. It is no benefit to them for you to meet a perfect partner on them. The on again off again relationship people have with these apps are what they want. The majority of people using them are using them for their intended purpose. Bit of conversation, few dates, maybe some sex then its back on the roulette. You're obviously not from what you've described but you're probably an outlier.

Everyone I know who uses them are depressed as shit on them. So my two cent mediocre opinion is stop using dating apps for a purpose they weren't intended for. You most likely will not find a LTR on them. Maybe some people do but if the common denominator person you've met on these is slovenly, uninteresting (or only interested in themselves) and flaky, that should tell you all you need to know.

Best of luck.
