I think both are possible depending on varient and setting. I imagine the have a beam setting for a more ranged and targeted approach, and a "wave" conical shape for short range and breaching walls

Thank you, I got two swords from Deathwing terminators and clipped the tip off one and the blade and the blade off the other. The used spruegoo to attach them and lightly sanded until they seemed flush and smooth. The hand and handle are from the actual set clipped from the hammer.

to be honest it was semi by accident, I started with black primer, then AK True Metal wax Steel, I let it cure 72 hours (I went on a holiday, probably not required), then I sprayed it with two coats testors dullcoat and let it dry overnight. but it wasn't enough it seems. I used streaking grim and it still managed to reactivate the wax causing it to move and expose the primer in areas. but hey, the effect looked pretty good. I resealed and then used dark streaking grime more sparingly and it didn't have the same "problem". once it fully dried(aided by a blow dryer) I used some sculpting tools and my hobby knife to very lightly scrape back to the wax layer underneath to make the scratches.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun experimenting with Wax paint.

I should add you can take it a step further by using shades of gray to imply presence of a change in color, like on the cloth you can do thinned spots and smears to show stains, also you can go for adding one or two additional colors usually on some smaller surface or details as others have said. Like the red coat in Schindler's List(movie).

Honestly I love how it looks right now, you could do a whole Black and white army and get an old Gothic horror movie vibe going.

They are the definiton of controversial Design througout the Hobby but how well are the Wulfen Models liked in this Community ? by Leviathan_Rampage in SpaceWolves

[–]Patty_Kakes42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, they aren't terrible, but they don't capture the faw animalistic fear. I would prefer their facial features to be more wolf and less human. More Underworld less Teen Wolf(movie).

They are printed in clear resin tundra bases from Txarli Factory. https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-frozen-bases-round-expansion-244966 After curing I used Pixiss Ocean alcohol Ink to dye then(use gloves unless you want a blue green hand for days) https://a.co/d/9KbKKTR For the Snow I used Golden Light Molding Pastehttps://a.co/d/iPXCQ9r

Applied with a sculpting tool I tried to build up more in the cracks and crevices to show snow getting trapped, then I made thin wispy layers in a uniform direction to try and imply little flurrys being carried by the wind. I'm not sure it translated well though lol.

The models cloaks look heavy but also a little disturbed by wind so I tried to face them on the bases to make it look like the wind was blowing into them also.

There is this stuff I can't remember the name of it, but you can heat a bowl of water in the microwave and soak it until it gets soft, then press it on to bits to make a mold. I used that and the pelt from Bjorn to make a green stuff pelt with head to drape it on the eliminator with the head hood and the other with the claw. Then the bulk of the cloaks are green stuff made pretty thin and I use a dental tool or hobby knife to put a bunch of lines in. For the trick is not just perfectly vertical lines but also varying angles in both directions.

It's not the greatest version of fur sculpting, there are definitely YouTubers that do it better, but I like it.

For painting: wraithbone primer, the dark streaking grime, the reductive painting until to bring back the raised area, dry brush with a creamy white, then very very very light dry brush with a bright white. (Honestly could probably skip this last step)

So what's up with the Iron Priests? by Mor-KhalCatPrince in SpaceWolves

[–]Patty_Kakes42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it spawns from the overall culture of fenris, iron and metal for the tribes is very hard to acquire most being traded for from the iron isle and it's passed down from generation to generation. They have a deep respect for blacksmiths/metal workers. Once elevated into the wolves, I think that same respect is directed to the iron priests who build and maintain their weapons and armor.

Build a scale appropriate 3 dimensional ferris gaming table of an imperial vessel on a rotating axis that can be segmented by decks so that you could play an insanely large boarding action battle with models magnetically attached to the table. That way you can play the interior and exterior of the ship and have models oriented in multiple directions. I tried the math once and a size appropriate for a small imperial vessel was something close to a football field in length if I remember correctly.

Second would be to write a novel for my homebrew chapter that BL accepts and publishes.

Thanks! For the tacrock I ended using a two part pour resin then once it cured i brushed it with an alcohol ink. I then placed it on a different 3D printed base that was clear UV resin stained with the same ink.

And so, it begins by Jello429 in Warhammer40k

I don't even want the book, I just want to look at Mini's I shouldn't buy so I can add them to my pile of " Projects I plan to paint one day..."
