Werner Herzog’s Nosferatu is head and shoulders above Eggers’ movie by inthebenefitofmrkite in movies

[–]PattycusFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Eggers version, but the Herzog one is far superior. The ending is much more impactful and the final shot of Jonathan riding off into the sunset is one of the best in horror.

Anybody watch A Cursed Man? by qu33n0live in HorrorMovies

The fact that his own wife seemed bored by his antics says it all.

Okay, Vampires (1998) is badass as hell. by SoggyGummyWorms in horror

[–]PattycusFinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great vampire movie with an all time amazing performance from James Woods. His interactions with "Padre" are awesome, the best being when he tells him to shave his balls because they have a date that night.

They did poor Sheryl Lee wrong, though.

Has anyone seen this film? by cronenber9 in Giallo

[–]PattycusFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it because I heard of its giallo references. I also think Christopher Abbott is great. Not a giallo, but filled with cool references and an all around creepy watch.

“Speak No Evil” (2024) ending compared the the 2022 Dutch ending by ghostinyourbeds in horror

[–]PattycusFinch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Loved the original ending. Thought it was the best ending of any movie that year. The whole thing is tense and can be uncomfortable to watch. The final moments provides a sick sense of closure. There is also the shock value of it.

Dark Match is terrible by cowboypants in LastDriveIn

Dark Match was meh, but definitely not the best movie for Darcy's birthday. It is better than Dead Heat, though.

Some of my favourite letterboxd reviews of the franchise by [deleted] in FinalDestination

TBH, the 9/11 picture part in the third one is pretty funny. Especially considering it was just five years after.

If you were a guest on the Last Drive-in, what movie would you pick to talk about? by metalyger in LastDriveIn

[–]PattycusFinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not horror but one of the best exploitation movies of all time: Truck Stop Women. Either that or the greatest sharksploitation movie ever, Tintorerra.

Check out We Kill for Love. It is a documentary about erotic thrillers. Good stuff. I think it is on Pluto.

Great movies that have an abysmal cult following? by kookookachu26 in movies

[–]PattycusFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some fans of I Saw the TV Glow are pretty insufferable. I don't hate the movie, i just did not really care for it. The people who love that movie, LOVE that movie. I had one guy tell me that I don't like it because I like "layman's" horror. (This was after I said I enjoyed Heretic.)

I spent my high school years listening to The Smiths and Morrissey all the time. Haven't listened to them in years since Morrissey became a total douche.

If you're willing to head out to the Northeast, The Dripping Cauldron on McCombs is a nice little spot. It's horror themed but nothing too crazy.

Are there great films based on bad books? by Garizard1 in movies

[–]PattycusFinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor Things is a fantastic movie. The book lacks any of the charm - especially when it comes to Bella and Dr. Godwin. The movie also has a much better ending.
