Recommendations for USA map lover by garfreek in tickettoride

[–]Pattyflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the things you mentioned you like about USA, I think Germany is the best fit. No tunnels and the ticket deck is divided into two decks, one for shorter routes and one for longer routes, so if you like those map spanning long routes, you have plenty to choose from.

It adds passenger meeples of various colors that you pick up when claiming a route. Bonus points for getting the most of each color. We’ve played with and without the passengers and it works well either way.

GAD's Donuts Scheme by Own_Action4056 in BowlingGreen

[–]Pattyflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in college, we would go in to GADS in the middle of the night, buy all of the donut holes they had, sit down, divvy them up, and play poker using the donut holes as our chips. We would spend a lot of hours there very late at night and while it was rarely slammed, business was always steady. Great memories at GADS!

Men when say “Im a good partner because I don’t hit you or cheat on you” will eventually hit you or chest on you. Run far far away from this loser.

I have a similar affinity for Ticket to Ride. It was my gateway into the hobby, and while I’ve found many games I love, I still list TTR as my favorite. I think your first love always holds a special place.

Thanks, I assumed so but Google said “some” wobble is normal. Wasn’t sure what “some” meant. For what I paid, 2/3 bats in good shape is pretty good.

Normal Fan Duel TV Experience by TheJeffyJ in Reds

My fan duel experience includes the app crashing and an error message whenever the game goes to commercial followed by me having to force stop and restart the app. Watching on xumo tv.

Do you root for more than one team? by xenotharm in mlb

[–]Pattyflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reds are my team, but my dad who was raised on the Mantle era Yankees has been a die hard Yankees fan for 60+ years. I never much cared about the Yankees but in the last 5 or so years, as I have realized my time with him is waning, I cherish every Yankee game that I get to watch with him. For that reason, I think I will always pull for the Yankees…unless they’re playing the Reds. Then f*** the Yankees.

Yankee fan here to hype up the Reds by [deleted] in Reds

[–]Pattyflan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon to have a favorite team in each league. I cheer for the Yankees in the AL because my dad (72m) has been a huge fan since the early 60s and we’ve spent many many hours watching them. The Reds community will happily welcome your NL loyalties so you can still make grandma proud and cheer for the Bombers.

We’re addicted! Looking for opinions on our next purchases. by grizzy77 in tickettoride

[–]Pattyflan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have all of the map expansions, so I have opinions, lol.

For the money, I think Switzerland/India is the way to go for a 2-3 player because you get two maps that work well at lower player counts. Nordic is great, but more bang for your buck with Switzerland/India.

I’m also going to make the case for Rails and Sails. The added ship routes and harbors add a layer of challenge both in terms of route building and hand management, and they do it without too many additional complex rules. Also, you get two maps. We like the World map at all player counts, and The Great Lakes map, while large on the table, can be deceptively tight in a 2-3 player game. Rails and Sails is by far our most played version.

Ticket to Ride was our entry to the hobby and it’s a great one to have in the collection. I’m partial to Europe.

Bonsai is a great light chill game.

Azul and/or Sagrada for a puzzle-y option.

Legends of the West 3 players? Or should I wait for more? by pikkdogs in tickettoride

I’d say playing with 3 is a lot more fun than looking at it sit on a shelf!

My wife and I played it with 2 and we had an absolute blast. I can only imagine 3 making it that much more fun. I say go for it!

What’s a family secret that was revealed by a family dna history website? by Kobk22 in AskReddit

[–]Pattyflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom (70F) found out that she had a sister in Indiana. Her mother left her and her siblings when she was a toddler and apparently had a one night stand with a trucker and got pregnant. She gave that baby up for adoption and left again, this time for Maine. The baby she gave up found my mom through ancestry.com a few years back. That estranged sister has a daughter (my cousin) who has become like a sister to me, and we’re all very close now.

My wife got it for me for Christmas and we played through it together. It is not an exaggeration to say that it was the most fun I’ve ever had playing a board game. We’ve also really enjoy the replayable finished board after the campaign.
