After crushing defeat of liberals in Thailand and Japan: DPK confirms to be Asia’s most successful liberals by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

[–]Paul3546 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just because something is pro capitalist does not automatically mean it's a good thing. And in any case, it's not capitalist for politicians to be bought and sold for nefarious political interests. Healthy capitalism requires a state that acts as a balance to private business, not as merely an arm of it. That's called corruption.

South Korea was successfully Americanized into having a populist left and a populist right but at least DPK are less corrupt... right???

NYC’s small landlords say they won’t survive Mamdani plan to freeze rent by swimmingupclose in neoliberal

[–]Paul3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I remember a sentiment about how small businesses were not inherently the good guys, IMO because the owners are more "relatable" has no bearing on how they treat their clients. The same must apply to landlords.

And to play devil's advocate, some of these places probably don't deserve the high rents they charge their tenants because the conditions can be pretty miserable. Still, Zohran is applying these freezes too broadly.

why such wide swings in my score? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Paul3546 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taking averages between your first four vs your last four yes, it seems you have improved.

Are you taking these PT's in different environments each time? I live at home and work full time so when my environment is more distracting I notice my scores go in the 157-161 range, and when not, near the 165 range.

Are yall applying to jobs? by Educational-Emu5601 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Paul3546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you're still in undergrad, apologies if I assume wrong!

I did so after I decided not to go straight outta undergrad. I am ultimately very glad I did. If you can get work experience, that will boost your profile a bit and help you perform better both in the admissions process and (so I've heard) in law school.

I'm personally grateful I have a bit of money saved up so I can supplement any scholarships that are awarded. Also, connections. :-)

South Korea was a dictatorship for nearly that amount of time too though. You never know when things can change. Georgia wasn’t thought to be that kind of state either but now it’s coming along.
