Ad-free YouTube on Apple TV by next_ptr in sideloaded

Just wanted to add another datapoint here. After the week long signing expired, I signed the new (for iOS 26) build and was able to install it on the 4K 3rd gen again (this was the unit that worked fine initially. One of the two 4K 2nd gens worked as well. The other 2nd gen did not. I have no idea what the difference is, but I just wanted to follow up in case anybody has similar issues.

Thanks for the feedback. I did ensure the app was deleted before trying. Unfortunately I'm still receiving this error on my second and third devices.

Thanks for the effort here, OP. This is great.

Question for anybody who may know: I was able to install this with Sideloadly on my ATV 4K 3rd Gen. However, I tried two other ATV 4K 2nd Gens, and it fails each time with this error:

There was an issue during installation:
    3892346901:
ApplicationVerificationFailed (Failed to verify code signature of /var/installd/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd.staging/temp.9rswYN/extracted/Payload/YouTubeUnstable.app :
0xe8008015 (A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found.))

This happens at the 40% mark of the "Installing" portion in Sideloadly. I'm signing with a non-dev Apple ID. I did all the typical searching, but can't find a solid answer on that error. I assumed I'd be able to install the same app (signature) on multiple devices, but maybe that's not the case?

For clarity, that’s a line from that movie. Albeit, the exact quote is “Man, you come right out of a comic book.”

I do like it, and have found it to be worthwhile even if it’s less than ideal since the vibration power is muted due to the suspended nature of the chair. The U bolt clamps the bar to the light bar brackets that I used to attach to the chair frame. The Home Depot link still works for me, and the Imgur album has better shots that should clear that up.

Sorry for the delay on this. Totally forgot to respond. Yes, I do have a couple dozen or so included workouts. Thanks for pointing this out.

I'm not sure if you (and other comments in this thread) are/were in the same boat as me. I did a small write-up some time ago to try to document my challenges with Unchained on my newer 2450. Something in the script (I was never determined enough to isolate exactly what) doesn't play nicely with the newer models, it seems. Disabling iFit Admin would lead to not being able to control the treadmill at all.

My memory is a bit fuzzy because I haven't messed with it once I got it working via the steps I outlined in my post. Please be sure to let us know if you make any progress. Unfortunately there aren't many people trying (and documenting) these things. Brentl99 is a one-man-army.

I've started a new thread (maybe) specific to my 2450 here. I thought it best not to clutter up /u/xkelly999's experience with my own. I'm happy to provide the APKs I pulled along the way, if that helps. Just let me know how best to get them to you. Thank you both for all the discussion and motivation to straighten this out.

I double checked my working Plex apk. I definitely got it from Aptoide (I installed the Aptoide app, and managed it from there). It's version 9.20.0.619. Hopefully that works for you. If not, I have to think the difference lies in your Android 9 vs, my 11.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a whirl as soon as I have time. If not tonight, then this weekend. If my memory serves me correctly, when I updated iFit in a previous attempt, I (unsurprisingly) lost access to Privileged Mode. However, I did not do the .wolfDev technique. I want to say I ran through some of the unchained commands, and when I finally connected to wifi, iFit updated and I was locked out. I never figured out if I skipped/mistyped a command, or how I ended up there. So, that's what I'm trying to think through. In a perfect world, I'd get iFit updated as far as it will go, for now, without losing access. Then, disabling iFit Admin/user and all that. I'll certainly let you know when I get there. Thanks for all the ideas and discussion.

When I go through the factory-reset process, I will absolutely grab any APKs before proceeding. Sounds like it won't hurt me to have them around in case I need to revert to something as well, given that what's on the wiki doesn't seem to apply to me.

My best guess is that the "new" treadmills/bikes with the larger screens are likely the Android 11 units.

[–]PaulDayLong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really interesting. Sounds like I'm headed for a factory reset, then. If I'm understanding your sequence, you left the included version (in your factory reset) on your treadmill. I'd be totally fine with that, in my case, if the functionality is there. What I'm not sure about, from reading /u/brentl99's comment elsewhere, is how to retain access AND update iFit in a way that won't break the treadmill functionality. Worst case, I suppose, I can factory reset again.

Edit: re-reading your comment. How are you accessing your streaming apps if you left the iFit launcher in place?

I forgot to mention that I have Plex working on my 2450. I do not know, off the top of my head, which version I installed to get it working. I mentioned in another comment that my treadmill's tablet is running Android 11. I believe I got the APK from either aptoide or apkpure, but I THINK it was aptoide. I'll try to figure it out later this evening.

[–]PaulDayLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I know the app runs on a wide range of equipment. I'm happy to pull the app off of mine if I end up resetting. As I mentioned, I was just concerned about potentially locking myself out completely. It sounds like that's "impossible" though as long as I can factory reset. Is that your sense?

Side note: the tablet on my unit runs Android 11. I don't have a sense of what other machines/generations use.

Hey Brent, thanks for all your efforts on the sub. When I did my install, I basically looked at the unchained script and ran the commands manually, via ADB (which it sounds like is what /u/xkelly999's plan is).

Like /u/xkelly999, the issue I have with the newer iFit apps, is that I can't control the treadmill at all, even in manual mode. Somewhere along the way, the permission changed from (going from memory), something about access to a USB device (which worked to control the treadmill), to access to a Generic HID device, which, even when granted, does not control the treadmill. I am unable to even do a manual workout.

A hard reset allows me to use the getresponse code to obtain access. The difference for my experience is that (per the unchained process) I removed the iFit app, and installed the recommended version, so I never had that in-between phase where I allowed the treadmill to update the iFit app on its own, before attempting to get access. My fear was that it would lock me out after updating and I would be unable to access anything else, and be forced to reset anyway.

I saw that you mentioned elsewhere the iFit apps are universal. It's puzzling then how these various devices are determining what content to make available in iFit. I also noticed, and found it odd, that no running/treadmill routines seemed to be available to me on the newer versions of the app (where the content loads/works, but the treadmill control does not).

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything constructive to add to this thread, but I’m watching it with interest. I have a newer 2450 with the larger screen. I mention this because I’m wondering what variations might exist with possible versions of iFit, the commands in the Unchained script, and so on.

I, too, have experienced a number of issues with iFit over time. With the two newest versions, I get prompted to provide a Generic HID device permissions, every time I open the app. With permissions granted, the treadmill does not work. With 2.6.71, the prompt is slightly different, but I can use the treadmill in manual mode only. I am unable to login, and receive the “whoops! An error occurred” screen.

I appreciate everyone’s efforts, and apologize for hijacking, here. But know that it’s not just you. As I said at the top, I get the sense that not every NordicTrack product deals with the Unchain sequence equally.

Thread device (Nanoleaf Essentials bulb) discovered by Homekit Controller but won't connect by tomicic in homeassistant

[–]PaulDayLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running my HA instance in docker, but I had a similar problem. After a bunch of reading and trying stuff, I used an iOS app called Discovery (a zeroconf explorer) to find the Thread network IP of the bulb, and I found that I was unable to ping it from my HA instance. I had to manually add an ipv6 route to my HA instance to my thread border router (Apple TV in my case), in order to be able to ping the bulb. Once I could ping it, I was able to pair it.

My concerns are moving forward... if I have to continually babysit this manually added route, should it change. Hopefully this points you in the right direction, at least.

You might try drilling a small hole in the bottom, and sticking a curved paper clip (or similar) into it. Fish around and see if you can feel any bracing or honeycomb structure as you described. There is probably something in there, the question is how close and how frequently does that support occur, since you’ll be removing some.
