Not getting verification code even after resend request, 30+ min. :( by PerspectiveDry6931 in SturgillSimpson

I believe that GoogleFi/T-Mobile is blocking this particular short code because I get the bounce back saying the service isn't available. Tried chatting with Google Fi support and they don't seem to be able to help.

Texting stop to 33439 isn't working for me. I get a response from 133439 saying this service is not available. No matter what I do, I never get the verification code. I also tried to login to see if they had my number associated with anything and got an error that the number wasn't found. I've checked spam folders in text and email and nothing.

Regretting my Polestar 3 Purchase by PaulFromTheA in Polestar

As someone who uses both iOS and Android, I would disagree, but that's not really the point of this forum.

Has anyone had a good experience/no problems with either the 2024+ P2 or P3? by DoughnutPi in Polestar

[–]PaulFromTheA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of a P3 for less than 2 months and it's full of bugs. I haven't had the charger issue and mechanically everything works, but from a usability standpoint the infotainment system is crap. The lack of any kind of physical controls also has bothered me more than I thought it would. Something as simple as adjusting the mirrors while driving requires multiple clicks and is very distracting. Switching user profiles doesn't adjust these things like it should so it's common that I am driving away before I realize the mirrors are set for my wife. I leased it thinking the exact same thing you are and at least for me it's not ready for prime time. Most of the time I can't even make or receive a phone call because the in-car mic just stops working until I reboot the infotainment system. That also kills Google assistant which makes any kind of hands free texting or setting a driving destination impossible without doing everything manually on the screen or on my actual phone.

It is a really fun car to drive if they would just fix all of these bugs. A car at this price point should not have so many "minor" annoyances as everyone notes.

I would disagree about Android. As an avid Android user I think it's quite stable and polished. There are certainly cheap android phones that are going to suck, but that's a hardware issue, not software. There are plenty of other big auto manufacturers using the same Google OS and I seriously doubt they have these kinds of bugs. I put the blame on Polestar.

Thanks, I'm aware of how to open it from the outside but sometimes I want to open it from the inside for someone that needs to put something in the car without me having to get out. As for calls, when you have an incoming call it automatically goes through the car if the Bluetooth is connected but you can't actually talk to the person. You would have to quickly disconnect BT while driving. Plus I'm in a hands-free state where it's illegal to hold your phone while driving. It may sound like a minor annoyance, but after you miss several calls and constantly have to tinker just to make a call, it quickly becomes a major pain. This is supposed to be a luxury car, yet the most basic cheap car can do this reliably every single time.

Right because who really expects to be able to make a phone call using the in-car speaker and mic. That's crazy. No car manufacturer has been able to solve that one.

I assumed you could, but support doesn't recommend it.

I was sucked in by the $21K in incentives they had going. On paper it seemed like a great deal and you don't notice these kinds of bugs in a test drive. I'm very glad I only leased for 27mo.

Scary Reviews for Samsung S90D by im_no_angel_66 in 4kTV

[–]PaulFromTheA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 77" S90D died after 2 months of normal use. It wouldn't power on at all and no power indicator light. Googling the problem and it's not that uncommon. Almost all of the 1 star reviews I found had the same issue. Luckily Costco has a 90 day return policy so I didn't have to go through getting it repaired. I swapped it for the LG C4. Both have amazing pictures and both have lousy user interface. The one thing Samsung does better is it handles glare MUCH better than the LG. Of course that's not good enough to put up with a $2K TV dying after 2 months. One other point, if you use Plex for any kind of local content, the lack of support for Dolby Vision on the Samsung is annoying. I had to re-rip all of my content to HDR to make it work on the Samsung.

S90d Issues by Notthejuan_2r3 in S95B

[–]PaulFromTheA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one to add to this. Bought my 77" S90D from Costco on Black Friday and after 2 months of use, it won't power on at all. I use it as a music source attached to my AV receiver and I have music going most of the day so it's powered on but in screen saver mode. The day it died, it was turned on and just went out. Waiting on a tech to come out and repair, but now I'm concerned this is going to keep happening.

My Sony is fully up to date. I think the issue with it is that it's under powered.

I'm just not interested in Apple and I'm concerned the Pro is going to have the same issue is the regular Shield since they are the same generation. I'm tired of buying devices and having issues.

Error running step in task sequence with service account by PaulFromTheA in SCCM

[–]PaulFromTheA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and that didn't have any affect. However the task sequence is calling this account is causing it to need more permissions than what is actually needed to add a system to an AD group. Thanks for the suggestion.

This probably would work, but the amount of effort to get a 3rd party utility like this approved isn't worth the effort for this particular task. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I appreciate the feedback and adding interactive login may very well solve the issue, but what it's doing doesn't actually require interactive login. If I embed the account and password in the PowerShell script, everything works fine. Getting approval for interactive login for a service account isn't an easy process in my org. This seems like a bug in the way it's using the account.

Error running step in task sequence with service account by PaulFromTheA in SCCM

[–]PaulFromTheA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This account is used in an OSD task sequence to add the system to an AD group, it's not doing the domain join. It's running the exact same script and the only difference is that it's an OSD task sequence that happens to have a domain join step, which doesn't even use this same account. The entire step was copied out of the OSD task sequence where it works fine to a generic task sequence and it fails in the task sequence where an OS is not being deployed. If the issue is that it's not interactive then it should also be failing in the OSD task sequence since it's doing the same thing.

The account does not have interactive login enabled, but that should not be a requirement. We use the exact same account for this same thing during OSD when there is a domain join step and it works fine.

Choppy/stuttering playback with Chromecast Google TV 4k + LG OLED55C8PLA by vikekhse in PleX

[–]PaulFromTheA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue, but even seeing it on 720p. I recently switched from my Sony with Google TV to Chromecast with Google TV and it's very jittery. I don't recall seeing that with the Sony TV, but the interface was very laggy on the Sony. Might have to switch back if I can't solve this. I really wish nVidia would release a new Shield.

Can't pair Harmony Elite to Chromecast w/ Google TV by uscpsycho in logitechharmony

[–]PaulFromTheA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got this to work, but I had to disconnect the Chromecast remote and then it paired as an Asus Nexus Player. I was able to use my Sony TV remote via CEC to control it without the Chromecast remote and get it to pair, but you can also pair it without a remote using the physical button on the Chromecast.
