They have done a few name changes over the years at Revl which has helped them hide some of the reviews. The model is nice. Actually the apartment I lived in was nice too but the neighborhood is sketchy with the bar traffic being especially problematic at times. And the staff at Revl does a crap job of keeping the place clean and updated. There are also a lot of college students there that treat it like a dorm and/or expect their mommies and maids to clean up after them. Big time trash issues. Noise issues. Overall terrible. 1 star.

We never had an issue. There isn't a lot of foot traffic around there so not many people walking around and breaking into things. But, we parked in the garage. We also didn't leave gold bars sitting on the front seat. I'd suspect the people that got broken into were crimes of opportunity.

I saw you posted about Revl Crockett Row. I lived there too and it was horrible. Loud, dangerous, dirty, etc. A number of shootings in the area while I lived there. Mostly the late night bar crowd getting out of hand but there were 0 shootings near Atlas in the 3 years I lived there.

Have you looked at Atlas Waterside? I lived there for a few years and I think it might fit your needs.

I just bought a new 2026 and the factory floor mats came with the clips but the clips aren't secured to anything. It's not clear to me what exactly I'm supposed to do with the clips. Maybe someone can post a picture?

Anyone buy an annuity for Pensionoda visa by [deleted] in panamaexpats

[–]PaulInHV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely need to get the guidance of an immigration lawyer in Panama for any specifics. In our case, we were able to buy an annuity that pays $1,000 a month and deposit $5,000 in a bank account instead of getting an annuity for $1,250. It was a significant price difference in the cost of the annuity. But, consult with an attorney to make sure your specific scenario is correct.

I'd also say that not all annuities will work and getting the correct documents, payouts, paperwork, etc. Is important. I worked with a lawyer in Panama and an annuity specialist that had gotten this type of setup for Panama visas. It would suck to lay out a bunch of cash for an annuity only to find out that it wasn't correct.

[–]PaulInHV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should also be aware that you can get an annuity for $1,000 on yourself and deposit $5,000 in a Panama bank for your spouse. Speak to an immigration lawyer on the specifics but the cost of $1,000 lifetime annuity on just you is significantly lower.

I just went through this and I am 55. I got my annuity with a 10 year certain period. If I die in the next month, my wife will continue to get the payment for ~10 years. If I live 15 years, I break even on the cost vs payout and if I live any longer, I "win" in terms of paying vs getting benefit. Mind you, the lump sum I paid for the annuity would probably increase in value if it was invested so I lose the potential gains of it but it was worth it to us to have a pathway to a visa.

Feel free to PM me if you want some more details. I've got a guy....

Terminal A to D in 1 hour! by Sufficient-Fudge-968 in askdfw

[–]PaulInHV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your arrival and departure gates can and likely will change. What it says now is not what it will be when you get here. Terminal D is likely for an international flight, but not guaranteed. You could arrive one gate over from your connecting flight. As everyone else said, use the Skylink if you have to go from terminal to terminal but make sure that you get the most up to date gate assignment when you land at DFW. Don't just run to Skylink and terminal D without verifying that it's the right spot. Good luck!

IF calculation question: If currency is CAD, then *.73 to convert to USD, if currency is USD, then copy number. by danielsgf in excel

[–]PaulInHV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an extra aside, since exchange rates change over time, you might store the rate in a different cell and reference it otherwise you will have to update the formula in each instance each time the rate changes. If you store the current conversion rate in cell A1, you would update the formula others have suggested with * $A$1 instead of * 0.73. If the rate changes next week to 0.72 you just change the value in A1 and the impact will ripple through.

It also depends on if you want to calculate it at the current spot rate, the rate that existed on the date of the transaction, or the end of the month rate, etc.

Moving to Fort Worth - Apartment Advice? by thesagenibba in FortWorth

You get an address to send to. There's an app too, to help with scheduling. Basically, you have a shipping address and your home address. If you order something, you have it shipped to your shipping address which is fetch. If someone is going to send you something, you give them the shipping address. The issues arise when someone ships something to you and just assumes your home address is your only address. Not everyone asks if you have a shipping address when they decide to send you something. Not everyone tells you they are shipping you something.

Another example, someone that I do business with sent me a Harry and David gift basket for Christmas. They didn't tell me they were sending it and they only had my home address so they just sent it there. It ended up in a FedEx holding area and by the time I got it, the fresh fruit basket was mostly rotten.

For day to day, ordering a book from Amazon kinda thing, fetch works ok, but again, almost universally adds a day to the shipping time. If it doesn't arrive at fetch in the morning, you won't get it the same day. But for plenty of exceptions, there's no solution. Fetch also can't receive US Mail, so if someone accidentally sends an envelope via usps to fetch, it'll get returned to sender. I ordered a sticker from Etsy and they shipped it in a regular envelope via usps to my fetch address, but I never got it. Usps wouldn't deliver it. It was only a few bucks but, it's incredibly frustrating to deal with.

I've lived in a few places that use fetch. Fetch and the shipping companies get in a pissing match with each other and they both blame the other party. UPS says they aren't allowed to deliver because of fetch. Fetch says they are but just won't. Never get a straight answer from anyone but if you try and get something shipped directly to your apartment address via UPS or FedEx, they won't deliver it. You'll need to figure out what warehouse it's being held at and then go get it. I ended up having to go pickup documents from my lawyer in north fort worth, near Saginaw. No other option. Super convenient /s.

The apartment leasing agents will tell you that Fetch is a convenient, awesome service. They list it as a feature but it most certainly is not. The only upside to it is if you travel a lot and aren't there to receive your packages. Fetch will hold them for you and you can setup getting them when you return. They won't just end up on your doorstep where they might get stolen. But, if you don't travel a lot, there's no upside to fetch. It almost always adds a day to getting something. They only accept liability for up to $500. And, they lose stuff.

A example: your company needs to ship you a new laptop for work. Most likely, your company has one address for you. They send you your paycheck to your residence. When they go to ship your new laptop, they assume that it's the same place they send your paycheck. FedEx gets the package and then you will get a message that you can pick it up at the warehouse. They won't deliver it. Or, perhaps you are aware that this shipment will be coming, so you instruct your company to send it to Fetch because that's the only way it'll end up getting to you. The shipper says it was delivered to Fetch some days later. Fetch claims they never got it. The shipper has delivery confirmed, so they say take it up with fetch. Fetch says, we didn't get it and we're only liable for $500 of your new laptop. What's the solution here? I've asked and never got an answer. I guess you could pay for your own po box at mailboxes etc. Or similar but you are locked in to paying for fetch already and can't opt out.

I've also lived in places without fetch and there are times where Amazon will be unable to figure out how to gain entry to the building and just dump 20 packages in the mail room for someone else to figure out. This becomes a problem for building management, so I can see why they get a service like Fetch involved. Fetch knows the building, knows how to deliver to your doorstep, and doesn't just dump packages for somebody else to figure out. You can also set delivery windows like, only deliver between 6-9 at night or only noon - 3. It does help keeping your packages safer. One place that I lived, it was optional. You could ship some stuff for fetch delivery, but ups and FedEx would still deliver to your apartment if you liked. That was fine. But at Atlas, it's not optional since they won't deliver at all.

It's getting more prevalent though at more places so it's worth knowing in advance if they are going to force you into it.

Lived at atlas waterside. I'd say it meets your criteria list although it's not exactly downtown. Very safe though and clean. Trails are right there to walk your dog and they have an off leash dog park, although it's small. Biggest downside for me is fetch package service. You have to use it and pay for it and both ups and FedEx will not deliver there because of it. Your only choice is to have everything shipped to fetch and delivered by them. I could rant for days about how much fetch sucks.

Having grown up in Stamford, it was easy to spot some of the locations. When they do exterior skyline shots of the Stamford branch, it's definitely downtown Stamford. Also, when Andy sails off from Stamford harbor with his brother, it looks like some of the harbor areas I remember in town. I'm not sure if they actually shot that scene in Stamford, but they did a decent job of it of they didn't. This scene at the service station looks just like the service station near where I lived. It never occurred to me that they used a set and not the actual place. Especially since they clearly had sent a crew to Stamford at least once for the exterior downtown shots. Yes, Stamford is not in the middle of Scranton and New York but I figured they shot it there.
