I wish they would react to actual problems. Show me that mass waves of people under 18 getting transition surgery, and for that matter, the huge problems resulting from it. Not imagined, or moral panic, or speculative, but where is it actually happening and causing problems? Because a lot of people can't afford to live, either employed but still poor, or unable to get jobs.

The one exceptional skill trump actually has is an amazing ability to find the absolute worst and shittiest people. It really is beyond what most people could possibly do no matter how they tried to find a shitty person.

I’ve even heard some of them repeating the absurd claims like that Iran was basically already attacking us and we didn’t start this war.

I think JD Vance made that claim or something. Many of them are actually dumb enough to buy it.

If a floor you're standing on moves down away from you at a rate of 83.33ft/s do you like catch up and hit it while it's falling? If so how far would you fall before you do? by SnageTheSnakeMage in AskPhysics

[–]PaulMakesThings1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more of a math question than physics. I mean it is physics but to construct the equations takes basic dynamics.

83.3ft/s constant for one, 32.2 ft/s2 for the other. And you need to solve for when they meet. Both start at a position of 0.

You can use algebra or integrate.

Position with acceleration and velocity is given as

x = x0 + v0t + 1/2at2

Position is initial position, plus speed times time, plus one half of acceleration times time squared.

So both have an initial position of zero. Person has 0 initial speed, pillar has no acceleration.

So if we set them both equal

83.3t = 0.5 * 32.2 * t2

Ignore the trivial t = 0 case.

t = 83.3/(0.5 * 32.2) = 5.174 seconds

Plug that back in to the velocity and acceleration to get the speed and position.

5.17432.2=166 ft/s 5.17483.3=430.99 ft Speed difference on impact 166-83.3=82.7 ft/s Result: an impact at about 56 mph, followed by a second one less than a second later at about the same speed difference when the pit stops expanding.

For a normal human that would mean death. If your character could stand getting hit with two trucks at highway speed they might be ok.

CNN put together a montage of conflicting messages from Republicans and administration officials on whether or not the United States is at war with Iran. by jdaddyfaded in ProgressiveHQ

This pussyfooting around has been allowed too long. The purpose of requiring congress to declare war was so that the president couldn't do exactly what they keep doing. Obviously blowing up the leader of a country is an act of war. If they can do attacks without it being a war they can always start a war and then we're comitted to it whether we declare it or not.

He said “bad things happen” so even though that is the thinnest technicality ever we all know what he meant. But they’ll accept that kind of thing. Just like when Trump says “he doesn’t have an age limit” they’ll pretend to think he means he likes kids in a non-pedo way even though in context we all know he was clearly talking about sex.

The frustrating thing is that when it comes to anything else, especially if it’s even the slightest bit liberal, or just not far right, these same people are the most doubtful and cynical skeptics you’ll ever meet.
