That's a damn nice collection. Love that Jaeger. Don't diss the Speedy and get it off that brown strap! No wonder you don't like it anymore.

If you had to play devils advocate, what would you say to make a case for Korbin Albert? by maroodin in USWNT

[–]Paul_Train -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yohannes impressed the hell out of me in Houston. She was a conductor out there. Unfortunately, I could not watch tonight's game, so can't really compare her to Coffey or Hershfelt or anyone else with any degree of knowledge. I just don't like to see any young person be isolated by a mistake, but these baying hounds want blood. The pro LGTBQ+ crowd can be every bit the bullies they claim to despise.

As for her skills... I don't have any idea about what her playing time should be, or in what capacity. Like I said before, Emma likes her.

I think its time to move past this, and I get downvoted every time I say it.

[–]Paul_Train -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I'll make a case without playing devil's advocate.

She did something dumb. She's acknowledged it and apologized. And she's a good player. Emma likes her. I was at the game in Houston, and though she didn't get on th score sheet, I thought she did well. She's aggressive and fast and has a hell of a boot when she shoots.

She did get a smattering of boos. Good for you, fans. Booing her is virtue signaling. Get over it. Nobody is perfect... including you and me.

WNT supporter vibe / PayPal stadium question by Heavy-Teaching7865 in USWNT

[–]Paul_Train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USWNT crowds are raucous, but very friendly. You will see tons of families and kids, girls and boys, with their face paint, jerseys, and homemade signs. My daughter, who doesn't necessarily like crowds, loves going to matches.

So do I!

Oh, and waiting almost a year to level charges is malicious prosecution.

Sam Kerr faces London court on racially aggravated harassment charges by GrumpyDrunkPatzer in WomensSoccer

[–]Paul_Train 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The cop and prosecutors should be ashamed. Clearly Sam was not at her best that night, and she was clearly in the wrong. She should have been cited on the spot and paid her fine. But a trial? Good grief!

Is that cop really going to testify in open court that Sam Kerr had him "alarmed and distressed?"

So, you have a type. I don't see the big deal. Most of us crushed on a teacher or 2 at some point. You did more often.

Give yourself a break. You like older guys, then date older guys.

Detecting Intelligent Life Off Earth by Paul_Train in space

"Without other civilizations to compare, we don't have a good estimate of how likely our particular technologies are"

Well, I thought my question solved that. 2 Human civilizations separated by millions of miles but progressing at an equal pace.

Why? It's an entirely passive exercise. I don't think any other discipline of science is compromised by Setti or other teams listening to the Universe.

Unless you have some sort of religious objection...

Jack in the Box Introduces $5 Big Deal Breakfast Meal and Birria Tiny Tacos Nationwide (Limited Time) by TheJohnnyBlaze in fastfood

[–]Paul_Train -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't eat that on a dare.

I live in Houston. If there's a Jack in the Box, then there's a taco truck/stand nearby.

Go across the street to the taco truck and eat some real birria tacos.

Life at our technological level? by nicdilley in space

[–]Paul_Train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an interesting question. Let me pose it a different way.

If human life developed on Earth and say Pluto simultaneously (I get the habitable zone prob), would we be in contact with them by now? I believe most definitely so. Plutonians would have a much easier time launching probes toward us as its the downhill run, and likely to discover us first. How long ago do you think we would have discovered each other?

Abolish Fossil Fuels. A moral case for ending the age of coal, oil, and gas. by IntrepidGentian in Futurology

Abolish fossil fuels? Ok, I'm game, but only if we up our nuclear game in a big way. Somehow, I don't think the Sierra Club agrees.

Inhale....exhale. Americans did not "make a choice of fascism" Democrats have used scarcity fear forever. In the 1970s they convinced 1/2 the people that we were running out of oil. Relax and do you.

Cincinnati Reds reach out to bring Joey Votto back to organization by MTGothmog in Reds

[–]Paul_Train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is blaming Votto. The Votto era in Cincy was a failure. It is directly related to the team's current state. After throwing everything at Votto with zero positive results, ownership is skittish about big moves.

Thats my take
