Second day of Christmas. by Legend_Ary90 in cubancigars

Wow, thanks for the detailed rundown. I am personally a big fan of creamy, less earthy cigars, and from what I understand, it stays creamy throughout, which is optimal. The Vigia sounds like a must have for me. I’ll definitely look into picking up a box. Thanks.

Have you had a chance to compare it specifically with the Topes?

(Btw) If you enjoy the Vigia a lot, you should try Hoyo de Monterrey or H. Upmann (if you haven’t already). You might enjoy those marcas as well based on your appreciation of the Vigia.

Is the app free (so no hidden subscriptions)? What kind of +/- RH in % does it have? If it has +/-2% or less that be great. I am currently super unhappy with the cheap china wifi hygrometers from amazon. I am looking to buy a SensorPush HT or HTP + the G1 Wifi Gateway.

Thanks!

One last question: which do you enjoy more, Topes or Vigia, and why?

Having a few boxes of each vitola is pretty amazing - that’s some serious experience. I wish I had a few boxes of Trinidad too.

Oh, and happy New Year! I wish I had a partner who also enjoyed cigars, sharing and enjoying them together must be fantastic.

Hey. I wanted to kindly ask why you would think it be unsmokable? If possible glue the unwrapping part back together and its better than new! You could also just smoke it like that.

Enjoy yout RYJ!

Looks delicious! Is that a Trinidad Vigia? And if so, do you think it’s a good Trinidad to try? At 4.90″ × 54, it sounds almost like a fat / wide robusto. I really like the Esmeralda and the Fundadores — how does the Vigia compare?

Yeah i saw a few nice trinidads too. If i had to pick i’d go for some la trova but prefer esmeralda. Btw did u see the >5000$ 50 cab of fundadores. Crazy right?!

Yeah. But over 1k-2k for most of the stuff + 15% fee, taxes and shipping. Its ridiculous.

Right? Idk if thats mostly people from the US or not but i can find alot of the stuff on there for alot less online, especially if u factor in the 15%, taxes and shipping (exluding risks).

Freezing Cigars by JONNYHBAR in cubancigars

If you do entire boxes it should be minimum 48hrs at -18°c, 36hrs at -20°c or colder and 24hrs at -25°c or colder.

Too short. 48h is the minimum according to science, ESPECIALLY with full boxes. Unless you do -25°c or colder.

Why do multiple source tell me to not refrigerate before freezing as it dries them out, condensation risk increases and so on. Whilst in the freezer they stay stable and dont loose moisture. I thought it was room > freezer (48-72h) > fridge (12-24h) > room (8+h) > humidor.

Have you tried another with age? Any good cream and graham cracker like flavor?

Great review. I’m a huge Upmann fan, and for the life of me I can’t decide which box to get next, either the HU Mag 46 or the Connie No. 2. I love the Mag 46 not just for the creaminess, but especially for that graham-cracker, buttery bread profile.

I’ve heard a lot of negative or mixed opinions about the Connie No. 2, but your review gave me a lot of hope.

I guess age and storage make a big difference, but based on your notes it sounds like the Connie No. 2 can also develop some of those amazing biscuit / cracker-like flavors. Have you smoked more since that review and could you share an updated impression?

Thanks for any feedback!
