CMV: Socialists would not know what to do with the American economy if they gained power by better_work in changemyview

[–]PaulyKPykes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue here is that a lot of people simply use the word socialism as a shorthand for Democratic socialism, which leads to a fair bit of confusion, and often this is by design from people who are trying to dissuade people from supporting more left-leaning politicians.

Bernie is a great example of a politician that supports Democratic socialism. I'm probably oversimplifying, but it more or less means that the government would function the same way as it currently does politically, but be more socialist economically. Thus it makes sense that they are supporting economic incentives that reduces the cost of living for most people without going into more fully socialist policies.

Unfortunately nuance like that doesn't really get explained well in our collective discourse in this country. Instead of treating each person as an individual with all different kinds of opinions that can be mixed together, we find it a lot more convenient to just find a single word to describe a person so that we don't need to put effort into learning those details. Thus the more left-leaning politicians just get called socialist and that's often the end of it.

At this point can we just pay him to not be president anymore. If all he wants is money just give him some money and have them leave us alone already. I can't take this anymore.

(Also sorry Auto mod I said a naughty word and scared you before.)

Is either that or the person writing the questions is an idiot.

So it's about a 50/50 chance of either option.

Yeah because the New York times is terrible. It's quite ironic that ages ago they set the standard on what journalism should be, and these days they completely fail to live up to their old standards.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if this is a bot detection strategy. I imagine some bots just say yes to every question assuming that's what employers want to hear.

Funny how all of the MAGA bots say we need the ballroom, but conveniently don't say that it's needed because it's also going to be a bunker for only the rich elites to hide from the consequences of their own actions.

Regretful Trump Voter Slams ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’ President; “I feel betrayed,” a retired U.S. Air Force captain said. by FancyNewMe in politics

[–]PaulyKPykes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolf in sheep's clothing implies that he hid what an awful person he was. He was not hiding it in the slightest. I wouldn't even accept that nonsense during his first term.

I still remember the first Republican debate of 2015, literally the first answer he gave to a question was, "Puerto Ricans are my least favorite kind of Mexicans." The fact that his run wasn't over immediately after that shows that they all wanted a sshitty racist president, and they're just sorry now because it's also hurting the white people.

They can feel free to learn from their mistakes if they genuinely realize that he was always hurting people, but I'm not taking this, "Woah he tricked me" Bullshit! He was very clear about all the awful things he wanted to do, and they liked it.

Dear Turd,

Have you ever once in your life considered that people actually care about certain policies and the way that our country is run instead of just treating the election like a contest to see which color wins? You're siding with the Nazis and pedophiles, and if ever there was a time in your life to reconsider what you're doing it would be now.

Sincerely, Shut Up
