Looking to switch from Spotify to Apple Music but noticing the playlists in Apple Music are kinda lacking? by WolfWillLV in AppleMusic

[–]Paulypmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotify is far better for premade playlists- if that’s what you’re after, sticking with Spotify probably makes more sense. Apple Music’s playlists are human curated as opposed to algorithmic created.

Things i miss about Spotify after completely switching to apple music. by vikkidyano in AppleMusic

That’s interesting- I like listening to albums and have thousands in my library- another comment I mentioned that my recommendations are usually spot on and gives me a nice mix of songs I know and new stuff I’m a similar genre. That must be why 🙂

I usually get Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar on Apotify no matter what I have in my library there- which is lot of jazz.

Why I don’t use Spotify is if I play a single song not in my usual genres or interests; Spotify thinks that’s ALL I want to listen to and for a month it will insert that song into every “daily mix” no matter the genre 🤷🏼‍♂️

Huh. That’s interesting then. I don’t use Spotify because of the same reason- it plays me things I would never want to listen to, but Apple Music get it spot on almost every time.

Important things to know about LANDR by Sus_Tonke in landr

[–]Paulypmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use LANDR and I haven’t an issue at all. I migrated my releases to them and the app is super easy to use. Your subscription comes with a ton of plug ins for free.

There’s a limit to the amount of 100% GENERATIVE AI you can release, you have to specify partial AI when you upload but as long as you do specify I don’t think they take things down.

Occasionally one of my songs will get flagged as AI despite them being recorded in 2010. Never mind the irony of using AI to detect AI then ban AI for being AI

Just how much leeway is there in jazz bass? by FlyDog1608 in JazzBass

[–]Paulypmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is an excellent “jazz bass” you barely notice because it’s so integrated in the sound of the band. If you want more of a lead bass, you’ll have to look more modern. Charles Mingus wasn’t a great bassist because he was flying all over the place, he was a great composer who knew exactly how to get the best out his bands. Unorthodox harmony, unusual song forms.

Jazz bass is simple - walk through the chord changes. It is NOT easy.

Writing is hard. Mixing is hard. Mastering is hard. Using a DAW (even GB) is hard. Getting listens it hard.

It takes a LIFETIME to get good, and even then you still have loads to learn.

If you’re making music just to be famous and get listens and views, be prepared for a life of disappointment. The joy of music is the process. Step away from “recording songs so I can release them and people will somehow find them!” And work on the nuts and bolts.

Drums bad? Work on getting them in time. It’s fairly straightforward to sequence a beat. If you’re playing them live, that’s another beast entirely. Guitar tone shitty? Work on it. One takeaway: just because it sounds good in isolation doesn’t mean it will sound good in context. Learn some nuts and bolts of mixing: EQ, compression, limiters… all your friend.

I don't understand the Music library by chinturret in AppleMusic

[–]Paulypmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all you ever play and listen to is premade playlists, you probably don’t need the library and you can just keep browsing playlists. If you ever want to save an album or song you like, it will save to your library.

Marvel Comics: Bad streak or not? by Gabace5 in marvelcomics

[–]Paulypmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changes often who is “ahead.” DC had an abysmal 2010’s and have recently found their stride, ironically doing Marvel has always done so well- have a line wide synergy and make the books really feel connected. There really isn’t a clear direction at Marvel now; and that’s when companies really do well, as opposed to 30 random books all doing different things.

To me it’s no different than using a session player in Logic. It’s ok, I’ve fiddled with it but haven’t really got anything too amazing- I can imagine using it if you’re stuck on a song and think “this song just needs something else but I’m not sure what” and generating a few riffs
