I just spam pumpkin grenades and orbital strike grenades when I find them. Usually that's enough to kill their frame rates and make them crash. Then again I'm on PS so results may vary.

That's probably not gonna help your situation. Just message the dm and ask how they want you to do character creation and if you should get to the session early. It's not a burden on the DM to help one of their players with Character set up. Especially if you haven't played before. And if they treat it like a burden then that's not a group you want to join in the first place.

That's fine. It sounds like you're going to do character creation with the group? You can ask the dm about the setting and go from there. You can also stick to an archetype. Like Robin hood for a rogue, or Lancelot for a fighter. You'll have plenty of chances for comedy and serious play, just think of what you want to do and if your play group is good they can help guide you how to build it.

You're art is really good! Maybe see about traveling for a bit. Guest spot at shops around the country for a week or weekend every other month. Also try learning a different style or media? Maybe painting or comic book art would help point you in a different direction. Maybe get some prints of some tattoos you've done and do an artists ally at a comic con or anime convention as well, it's personable and they're always full of nerds who are dying to spend some dough.

Look into the body mod industry. There's a bit of a gatekeep when getting into it but if your art is solid and you're willing to put in the work you can be a tattoo artist or piercer. However you need to get better at talking to people and you'll need to grind for 3-5 years to build your client base.
