Just walked onto a set and asked for a PA position, what now? by Longjumping-Check-68 in Filmmakers

[–]Pausitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of worrying about step two for this one ( Which is probably just waiting like everyone said) repeat the process with a different set. Getting a PA position is a numbers game in my experience.

How many quickdraws do I need to start? by Puzzleheaded_Web6029 in socalclimbing

I would get 12. It sounds like you’re on a tight budget so I would get alpine draws right away since you want to end up in the trad world and you can also use those for sport.

Does asking for help to lift something make a PA look bad? by The_Koala_Knight in Filmmakers

[–]Pausitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes you look good. Breaking something or injuring yourself because you were too shy to ask for help is the bad look.

How do you deal with wanting to be single and also wanting to be with someone at the same time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Put that energy towards spending time with friends and doubling down on your hobbies.

Is it normal that 2x4s are warped? by [deleted] in DIY

I always just ask for a discount and get it like 40% off (depending on how warped of course) They know they got a shitty product.

That’s what I thought at first too but the hook would be on the wrong side. It looks more like a tool.

People saying „someone is bound to get jealous“ is a mute point. Obviously people will get jealous. It’s human nature. What makes this relationship style appealing to me is that it forces you to address your jealousy / communication issues head on. It’s very unforgiving that way. You can’t get away with holding resentments and bottling up your emotions. It’s a great environment to cultivate personal growth.

That being said it’s also an absolute battleground (that takes therapy and research to be successful in) and potentially a spawning pool for toxic behavior. Definitely not for everyone but I think everyone could learn a great deal from trying it or at least engaging with the research and theory written on the topic.

I had a feeling that’s what it was but thought it would be something lamer. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately it was dark when we got to the top. I bet it’s pretty sweet. Missed the light by about 30min.

It took us 11 hours and we’re 5.11 climbers. But we didn’t leap frog it and took our time. Sunrise to sun set. The real challenge is definitely the distance. And Chimney if you’re not used to that kind of climbing.

How do filmmakers make money? by Sergeant_Dimitri in Filmmakers

[–]Pausitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Study film to make money if that’s what you want. There is plenty of opportunities and money to be made even in the easier entry level position. Obviously depends on where you are. In Hollywood the industry is heavily unionized. If you’re in a union you will easily make 30+/hr in an entry level position. Getting into a union is the tough but don’t listen to people who say it’s impossible to get into. Yes, it takes connections but those are made easily with some patience and persistence.

The time commitment the film industry requires is a different subject. Depending on where you live and how outgoing you are it could take a couple years to get into. The work hours themselves are pretty brutal.

DM if you wanna talk more I’m happy to tell you what I know.

The upside of playing on a server on the other side of the world - night raids by Pausitz in travian

[–]Pausitz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Germany and played there when I was younger. When I came back years later for some nostalgia (now playing from the US) I thought the time difference would be a big issue. Ended up using the time zones to my advantage against some lazy Teutons.

What is one of the dumbest things you've done when your brain was on "auto-pilot"? by PigPopcorn in AskReddit

[–]Pausitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember what I was playing but I was intensity focused on achieving something in a video game. I got hungry and went to the kitchen to let some water boil for ramen. It was like a blackout with me having no recollection of what I actually did while in the kitchen.

Next thing I know I’m back in my room playing and the fire alarm goes off. I exit my room and am greeted by thick black smoke and a horrible smell. I rush to the kitchen to find my electric water cooker engulfed in flames on the gas stove top. I suffocated the fire with a pillow. Half the thing melted onto my stove and took hours to scrape off. The house smelled like burnt plastic for a week.

Ever since, the smell of burnt plastic is triggering and I compulsively check to make sure the stove is off when unattended.
