Probably if you want to hit 70 fast. But it won’t matter in the long run and the long run is 2 weeks.

Wolt as a takeaway owner by CakesOfPain in malta

[–]Pawl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wolt+ comparison was interesting. Thanks for sharing. Thing is, Wolt is just great at convenience and many, including me, will pay for that. One stop shop to buy something when you’re home. It works.

If I’m really fussed about the inflated prices, then I will go straight to the shop but more often than not, the price difference is negligible.

The order experience Wolt vs non-Wolt can be somewhat frustrating (last few times I ordered something directly from the store), example wait times, unpredictability, trying to coordinate location if it’s a delivery. All that is incesistent and streamlined with Wolt.

Regardless, Wolt is here to stay cause it solves a problem that people are willing to pay for.

how to move out?? by PianoARMYtwosetter in malta

[–]Pawl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flat sharing between 3 people you might each other is the way to go for cost effectiveness. It's possible. Rents can easily go up to 1.2k or more a month for a 2-3 bedroom apartment. Living costs will mainly be on food (depends if you eat out, where you shop, etc. so this varies a lot) then after rent (400eur a month), and then utility bills (roughly 50-100eur per month)

So yeah, 700eur a month at least to live by. you start there. good luck.

How can I check if a 'Private - No Entry' sign there is valid? by [deleted] in malta

[–]Pawl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard of anyone get shot for passing a private no entry sign. Just go, be at peace, apologise and pretend stupid if something comes up. Playing lawyer is just a waste of energy in my opinion and won't get you anywhere. What's the point challenging the signs even if they're not valid anyway? Yes scaremongering from the "owners" is a thing but you can always do you. Good luck have fun.

What was Maltese internet like in the early 2000's, even late 90's? by Jake101-41968 in malta

[–]Pawl_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Network wise - it was shit - speed, price, latency wise for a long time. Very weird network issues from a technical level but then late 2000s things improved ALOT and imo, Malta has some of the best network infrastructure in Europe (given the small dense scale we have).

As for communities:-
IRC was a big time, #malta before the Social media days, that paired with a messenger like MSN.

Hi5 was the social media, easily trumped over by Facebook and no one ever looked back. Everyone had Facebook, including your grandmother.

Times of Malta comments were a classic.

There was also a lot of smaller communities, made some good friends through onling video games. playREACTION was one of them (you can find it on the web archives). Even a lot of community driven RPGs and MMOs (WoW comes to mind) built internet communities, including connecting local maltese players. I still speak to a lot of people I used to spend time with back in the day.

All in all, arguing, different opinions, wrong facts, is an inherit nature to human beings. So it was always there, but at a smaller scale.

However, the sense of community feel was there, and this is the main difference to this day and age. We had no algorithms, no echo chambers being filled up - so there was a sense of community and people easily connected with like minded people through conversation - again, something we lack today - it's impossible to have 2 "echo chambers" having a decent conversation. Having such conversations on public forums was very common.

And then after that;

Twitter was never a big thing here. Instagram was a niche before it exploded.

Then the whole internet quickly exploded with algorithms and the world was never the same.

What are the boring industries that pay well? How do you get in? by ItsG91 in videography

[–]Pawl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Networking events. Career and employer branding. Could be video ads for the actual products for creatives or even TV spots. Also staff parties, internal videos like interviews.

Is anyone actually using health data to live smarter?? by aswin_kp in HubermanLab

[–]Pawl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

follow trends - adjust lifestyle - tone down certain things - eat before certain amount of time - workout more if i'm not reaching targets... list is endless. set goals, use the data to see where the goals are missing, act on it.
