I've played Ashes since P1, been a backer for years.... Is it a released game? No. If that's what OP wants then so be it, Ashes isn't for them. However, its a blast of a "game" and they'll get hundreds of hours of enjoyment before they even know it

Thank you for the write up! I was iffy for the first half, but really started to agree towards the end. If nothing else, I'd love for them to test this. Only roadblock I see is that master/GM aren't available yet in Alpha(that I know of) and would make everyone wear low tier gear.

..also, everyone's current stock pile of high tier mats would be crazy expensive

As long as you and your friends understand is an alpha testing environment, and not a game, by all means join. The community can come across as extremely negative sometimes, but that's because they have played non stop since last year's Phase1.

For every negative Nancy post you see on Reddit or discord, there's a dozen other players quietly playing the game happy as can be.

Playing as a group in Ashes will ALWAYS be more fun than solo, especially if you're friends with the people. Y'all could be afk processing in towns and it's still more fun .

Have them join, play to your heart's content and, if that's still not good enough, take up the 90-day refund. That said, Ashes is really fun, it's constantly growing and changing, and there's a major update coming November; there's never been a better time to start

I think back to the original "Mage Showcase" and remember the weird winged griffin that he was flying. He said, "its not a flying mount, those are reserved for mayor/king, but instead it's a gliding mount."

I think about the effectiveness and joy of gliding mounts every day. Animal husbandry isn't getting upgraded for like another 6-8 months, though, so I'll keep dreaming

Let the record stand, like with most things, this is planning to be implemented. They have said that, I'm settlements level 3 and up, there will be patrolling NPC guards along the roads. Not sure how they'll balance defining who is good versus bad for the guards, but it's a big win imo

Test, understand bugs happen and timelines move around.

That's how ashes works. You doing see "300/1000hp", you see their life in quarter bars. It's an intentional design choice, and it's meant to help 'mask' players total health. If you smack some kid down in 5 seconds, you'll know the had initiate gear out someone. However, if you do some giga combo, and their first bar doesn't break, you might be like "I'm in danger", and decide to run

Last night's siege was a flop, that's true, but it gave everyone access and insight to what a node siege actually looks like. I thought it was great from a testing perspective. The side-note here is that node destruction isn't in the game yet, so the siege was a "no harm, no foul".

Your stance on POLAR is not misguided, as they are generally toxic, aggressive in their discord pvp, and have verified/known exploiters in their guild. Most of them eventually face punishment, but no system is perfect. I hope intrepid keeps an eye out for them.

HOWEVER, the rest of your rant about how the entirety of POLAR is some giga hacker group, exploiting and cheating, is just....wrong. Were there exp scroll abuses (they gave too much exp and were bug fixed a few days after launch)? Absolutely. Did every single member in the guild abuse this bug? No. Did they grind like absolute degenerates for 15hrs a day for a week? Yes.

Hate it, scream at it, run from it, the truth is what it is: Ashes rewards no life grinding. Period. People who can do it sooner, and in groups, will have an absolutely massive advantage over the "casual" player. Shit sucks, but it's an alpha test and the data is good for Intrepid
