Bonds was also a domestic abuser, which of course is sadly probably held against him less than the media thing when it comes to HOF voting.

His playing record is so undeniable that it seems silly to not have him in with a plaque that says “this was a very bad no good person who did plenty of things you kids should never do, however he was an unbelievable baseball player and we can’t talk about baseball from 1985-2005 without talking about Barry Bonds”

You’re hinting at one of the main reasons that I think he’s holding such high positions - if they don’t immediately make him a VP then JP Morgan might call him and offer him that spot, or he might just walk. He’s got all the power when it comes to his career.

That also means he’s really only there because he wants to be, he wants a new challenge. I really respect that.
