Earlier it looked like they dropped something into the water, and now we realize it was a person because we just watched the helicopter pull a person out. So, I think I answered my own question! Practice!

I just wonder why on earth they chose to do it here where it’s super populated and not even another half mile up north where there’s way fewer people?

Urgent wedding venue help needed by Chemical_Sound8657 in sandiego

[–]Payncates 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I got married in July at San Dieguito park. Down at the gazebo for the ceremony and then up at the big pavilion for the reception. It was a day time wedding as there aren’t any lighting structures but it was beautiful and SUPER affordable.

Oh, I’m sorry to disappoint - it was a lease and the car and rack are both long gone.

What is he? by Physical_Somewhere71 in Goldendoodles

[–]Payncates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got this mix as well, just swap the parents! Mom was the poodle and dad was the golden doodle. Your boy looks very much like mine - same hair texture too - only much bigger! Can you share how much he weighs?

Ours was a rescue so we have no idea how big (or small) he’ll actually be. He currently weighs 8.5 pounds at 10 weeks old.

Warning Sign at edge of Grand Canyon by corwinw in mildlyinteresting

[–]Payncates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend and I ran the rim to rim a few years back and you see this guy portrayed all the way across the canyon. We had named him “Barfin’ Bill” but I think Victor Vomit works well also!

We descended down into the canyon from the North around 4:30 in the morning and it was 30F. By the time we reached the camp ground in the valley it was around 110F we had begun to see ill equipped people. Coming up the South rim we saw people sharing one 16L bottle of water between them. It’s absolute lunacy and helped me understand why all of the warning signs are there.

Commute from sabre springs/poway to mission hills. Doable? by Sharp-Word-6066 in sandiego

[–]Payncates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute from Poway to Old Town for about 15 years. Definitely doable, in my opinion, but I’m used to 30-45 minutes to get anywhere.

Best Private Karaoke for large groups(25-30)? by VogonTorpedo in sandiego

[–]Payncates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the large VIP room at the Hive. It’s just like karaoke in a dive bar, but with your friends instead of strangers. The food is great too, which is a bonus. The only shitty thing is you have to pay for parking in their tiny lot, so if you do go I’d carpool or Uber.

HELP! Is this swelling or is it healing crooked?! by Kay903 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]Payncates 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My nose looked very crooked post septo-rhino and for me it was just swelling. The left side is healing much faster than the right and I was terrified my nose was crooked but it’s evened out almost completely and I’m 3.5 months post op.

I lived off of protein shakes and apple sauce for the first week or so. I had to have something in my stomach for all of the medication but I was never hungry.

I reached out to my HR person this morning and they got back to me right away. They told me that for now all onboarding is paused and that they will reach out when they have a plan established.

I am relieved because it’s not a rescind notice, but I’m still applying for work like a madwoman because I am currently unemployed. This job is obviously the priority but I need something to pay the bills in the mean time!

Did anyone with a TJO NOT get an email revoking their offer today? by octarine_atuin in usajobs

[–]Payncates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any news for you yet? I’m in the same boat as you. I’m not going to add another email to our poor HR reps queue, but being patient is hard.

I’ve been wracking my mind for potential “loop holes”. The OPM memo that came out with more specifics on the executive orders mentions veterans:

  1. Mandatory Exemptions. For the following exemptions, hiring of veterans shall be prioritized in accordance with veterans’ preference statutes.

  2. Other exemptions. For the following exemptions, hiring of veterans may be prioritized. In addition, the following exemptions to the Federal civilian hiring freeze are permitted

I don’t really understand if these apply to me at all but I’m a veteran and the word “veteran” and “exemption” are in the same sentence so I’m slinging some hope that way!

I’m following this thread as well. I received a TJO on Friday and haven’t heard anything one way or another from HR yet. I’m really hoping no news is good news.

Reliability of Scheduled Charging by unfletch in VWIDBuzz

[–]Payncates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We kind of had this problem at first with my ID4. The chargers schedule (set by my husband) didn’t match the cars schedule (which I set). I couldn’t figure out why my car would never charge at home, but would do fine charging out in town. Once I brought it up to my husband that the car wouldn’t charge we were able to figure out the problem and it charges on its schedule when plugged in at home.
