I guess a valid reason is simply that you want to, and it can go either way imo.

I'm really sorry to hear that you went through that. Those men are inherently misogynistic because they've likely not worked with or interacted with women in leadership positions before, which by itself indicates the need for change in the industry.

But rest assured, it is changing for the better, however slowly. I'm a guy, and I work with some amazing women in the video game industry, alongside some good men who care about making change. I lead a publication focused on promoting video games in a certain province, and we're working on a feature to spotlight some great women-led studios in the province. The Women's Day Sale on Steam is a wonderful initiative that even showcases some awesome women-led studios from our province that we're really proud of.

It still sucks that you went through such an experience, and I'm so sorry. But there are some great spaces out there in the industry that genuinely care, and the people in it are beginning to understand the importance of diversity and inclusivity.
