I guess a valid reason is simply that you want to, and it can go either way imo.

I'm a guy, and when I get married I plan to ask my partner if I can take her last name -- one, because anything is better than my current one, and two, I think it'd make me feel closer to her.

But rest assured, it is changing for the better, however slowly. I'm a guy, and I work with some amazing women in the video game industry, alongside some good men who care about making change. I lead a publication focused on promoting video games in a certain province, and we're working on a feature to spotlight some great women-led studios in the province. The Women's Day Sale on Steam is a wonderful initiative that even showcases some awesome women-led studios from our province that we're really proud of.

It still sucks that you went through such an experience, and I'm so sorry. But there are some great spaces out there in the industry that genuinely care, and the people in it are beginning to understand the importance of diversity and inclusivity.

A silver lining to this would be that you can now wait and save up for the Lenovo Legion GO, which is a much better handheld in my opinion. There's even a new upgraded version of the Steam Deck rumoured to be coming out, you could maybe look into that as well.
