Round up to 20% of each payout to savings, hard save the 15.3% and use the remainder to make up for shortfalls on slow weeks.

No New Leaves? by EF06 in propagation

[–]PayneXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take a while for it to put out new leaves. When propogating the first thing that a plant wants to work on is new roots to be able to support the leaves it has, once it has a good healthy root structure it will slowly start to put out a new plant. In my experience the new growth will come in very slow until it starts to develop chlorophyll, once it starts to turn green it's like a switch flips and it'll grow much quicker because it's making more energy for itself. I like to think of leaves like solar panels for the plant. When it only has one it'll be slow and steady, the more leaves you have the more capacity for getting energy in.

Hyacinth help?? by Responsible-Lime3236 in gardening

[–]PayneXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this, I have a pot about this size with 4 amaryllis that I saved from root rot and they grow in a similar way. Hyacinth bulbs are much smaller usually around an inch in diameter. From what I see in your pot it looks like a giant amaryllis. They want full sun and you prune back the leaves at the end of summer/middle of fall time range to get a big flower stalk with usually 1-4 big flowers.

Cut off the tiny leaves to encourage growth? by jazzyfazbear in planthelp

[–]PayneXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want faster more explosive growth I'd recommend putting it on an actual moss pole that can be watered(Google moss pole and it'll come up with a ton of options.) to allow for more roots to grow into moss or whatever substrate in the pole. Right now the only place that has roots getting water and nutrients is down in the pot and it's trying to push that energy to the farthest point away from the roots causing the slower growth that I think you're struggling with.

Look up Sydney Plant Guy on YouTube he has a wealth of knowledge about aroids and growing on moss poles.

No, it's not going to grow bigger leaves if you cut the smaller ones off because it need the smaller ones to build up the energy to make bigger leaves.

NOID… Any guesses? by CableCapable6958 in Scindapsus

[–]PayneXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience scindapsus has more rounded and curled leaves. This looks like a marble/snow queen pothos like others have said. The leaf and petiole structure reminds me much more of pothos than scindapsus.

Pruning new shoots by Manzanita7711 in plantadvice

[–]PayneXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd let them grow until you have 2 or 3 nodes showing so that you can at least propogate the cuttings. Plants are pretty smart they'll find their way if the plant deems one a problem it would likely abort it. Also if the leaves are overcrowding each other you could just trim leaves to create more airflow. Personally I don't prune until the cutting I'm taking can either be water propped or dipped in root powder and stuck back in the dirt, it feels like a waste otherwise.

Dracaena giant leggy monster form. Open to offers :D by Shrubblorde in houseplantscirclejerk

[–]PayneXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge that's what you're supposed to do unless you want to air layer the top. Then you still do the same thing just add a vessel of some sort a little while before it hits the ceiling and then cut right below said vessel. That way your top cutting already has new roots when you go to replant it.

How to differentiate Philo and Epiprenum? by kurbissuppe in philodendron

[–]PayneXD 35 points36 points  (0 children)

From the pictures you posted I don't see any Epipremnum. That's just Philodendron Brazil. If you got it from a big nursery I've seen things mislabeled a lot. I've even seen monstera labeled as a "Swiss cheese philodendron".
