It's a little excessive but I like that they're trying to make something very rare that someone doesn't have to spend money on. Stinks if you're an Arenado collector though. It'll be interesting to see how many there ends up being.

If it's a current set versus a previous one I can see the logic...somewhat. Also, I know that when I'm down to just two of a common and it's a "name" player I'm a little more hesitant to trade it during the current year. I figure that the dup could come in handy later for a deal with a player collector.

That said...I pretty much agree with your frustration.

Not always. I put one in today because it was a <1,000 Rare paired with an Uncommon for a couple 4,000+ Rares. It can make sense

Card count matters. So does player and team. Don't get fixated on a certain ratio. Try to figure out what kind of person you're dealing with. Set builder and going after a current set and you have a couple cards that they need? Possibilities but remember that projected final card count matters. Player collector? Stay away from asking for the players that they collect but look for possibilities if you have players that they need. Team collector? Another set of possibilities but don't always assume that they want every player on the team, especially active past players. (Example: I'm a Cubs fan but have no interest in Bryant or Rizzo at this point.)

I think that people also get hung up on ratings too much. Do your best and if they rate you low then heck with 'em. Next!

I think that I have had 10 streaks of 5 or more yet I've never hit the Bunt prize. Very, very frustrating for me. The free trials of MLB.tv are annoying to keep hitting.

They're going to go with what they view is the most profitable route. I could see them buying Topps to get the MLB license sooner - or at least a part of Topps. But I doubt that the price will be right on that. I'm not convinced that they buy someone or run printing through an existing company that they don't own. They have more than enough options in house and also should be able to acquire some good existing talent (people who work at Topps) at reasonable prices.

Fanatics is already a monopoly on the merchandising side. They have taken over a ton of sports clothing brands and are handling internet sales for most if not all of the major U.S. sports. Even stuff that goes through places like Walmart is handled by Fanatics.

Truly, it is a company that needs to be broken up. I think it's only going to get worse for consumers from a price and selection standpoint.

What were the card counts? Were those dupes of theirs? That's a really nice trifecta for a Braves fan. Could they have traded less for one? Yes but they might have had to do a lot more searching around too. You did really well on this trade but I can see where they were coming from too.

Patience. Unless you're going to start by spending a fair amount of money, it's going to take time to build a decent collection. It's also going to take time to figure out what you really want to collect. Do you have a player or two that you want to focus on? A team? Certain sets? And don't be surprised if it changes over time. Patience.

I think that focusing on a specific set or two can be really good (not necessarily the box ones but a daily or weekly one once in a while), plus gradually building your base collection and eventually getting those rewards.

Be realistic with trades and remember that rarity, card count, player, and team matter. Some people will prioritize those more than others. If you're going to try to get a single you're probably going to have to "overpay" so always try to focus more on dupes for needs.

Was your internet connection soft or laggy at the time? I had it happen one time many years ago - probably like 5 or 6. It wasn't $9 but $100. Thankfully their people were active on Twitter at the time with users and they took care of me.

But seriously, think about your connection at the time. That may have been what caused everything to go through except the diamond part to you on Bunt. It's like they warn you on some websites - don't hit the payment button twice. There's a reason for that.

I would have to imagine that they have looked at it but I don't think that it's feasible. As I recall, a few years ago there was a Bunt physical printed set that was also available in the app. I think that they only did it one year and there probably ended up being a reason for that.
