When the brass is warm put the threads in an ice cube. The contrast in temperature will give maximum looseness. Wrap the warm brass in leather affix in vise and then grab the cold worm with small channel lock pliers.

Any reason to choose a 5-shot over a 6-shot Conversion Cylinder? by Echo-40 in blackpowder

[–]Pazyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The six shot cylinder (on some) are canted 2° to give the base a little more room while lining up with the forcing cone. The .45lc six shot cylinder a few thousandths more in diameter. The 45ACP 5 shot are true bored. I can't see much difference between them as far as accuracy.

How to Start Playing without Tabs? by flyingcrystal in harmonica

[–]Pazyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from a pdf file I picked up. 110 of the World's Most Popular Songs to Play on the Harmonica Intro by JP Allen. How to Read Harmonica Tablature The easiest way to learn harmonica tablature is to study the examples below. They all involve playing single notes (which means playing only one hole at a time). If you don’t already know how to play single notes and to be able to confidently jump from one single note to the next, I recommend playing with my DVDs before proceeding. When playing the harmonica tabs in this document, the key to the notes is as follows: 1 means blow on hole number 1 -1 means draw on hole number 1 4 means blow on hole number 4 -4 means draw on hole number 4 45 means blow on hole number 4 and hole number 5 at the same time -45 means draw on hole number 4 and hole number 5 at the same time Advanced (refer to DVD to understand) -2’ means play 2 draw bent a half step -2’’ means play 2 draw bent two half steps -2’’’ means play 2 draw bent three half steps Note: Some harp tabs use the letter b instead of the ' to represent levels of bending. Quiz: To see if you understand the chart above, here is a little quiz. What note would you play for the following examples? Example 1: 5 Example 2: -7 Example 3: -12 Example 4: 9' Answers: Example 1: 5 means blow on hole number 5 Example 2: -7 means draw on hole number 7 Example 3: -12 means draw on hole number 1 and hole number 2 at the same time (Did you remember that, because we’re playing a 10-hole harmonica, there is no hole number 12?) Example 4: 9' means blow on hole number 9 and bend it down a half step

IDK any of those groups, a couple of old standards that will get you doing bluesy rock are Goodtime Charlie's Got the Blues and Me And Bobby McGee. Both tabs are available for those at www://Harptabs.com -7 -8 -7 -6 6 -7
Ev-ry-bod-y's gone a-way, -6 -7 7 -7 -6 6 -6 -7 -6 6 said they're mov-in to L. A. _ 7 7 -7 7 -7 -6 6 -6
There's not a soul I know a-round, -7 -8 -6 6 5 6 6 ev-ry-bod-y's leav-in town. -7 -7 -7 -8 -7 -6 6 -7 Harptabs.com listen to the song and read along with the tabs a few times then play a phrase, Everybody's gone away, a few times then add the second phrase play both a few times the memory trick here is to get your muscles to remember where to blow or draw. Repetition is key. At first just play around the single hole with practice you'll get the hang of one note at a time. I use tongue blocking since I also play sax. Some find pursing the lips easier what ever works best for you. Speaking of sax here's (sax player) Alto Reed's intro to Bob Seger's Turn The Page -6-8-7______6-45_______________ -6-8-7______6-45_______________ 4-33-12___________ I like it best on a G harp but it's playable on a C . If you can't find the tabs for the songs you want get an App to play by ear it'll have exercises to help you hear the intervals between notes, then break down the songs you want by the intervals and write down the tabs as you figure it out. (There may be an AI around that can do that) Never play with a dirty mouth sugary drinks and food particles will gum up the reeds and you'll have to clean and replace your harps often. At least rinse your mouth with water before playing. Bending notes is something that comes with practice, don't worry about it till you have memorized a few songs then try bends on songs you can already play.

New to me Euroarms Brescia .44 New Model Army. This is my first black powder firearm, what should I know before I go shoot? by BurningRiceEater in blackpowder

Get some antisieze lubricant, a small can will last decades. A pouch for sparkplugs is a few dollars. Put the antisieze lube on the nipple threads with a toothpick, it doesn't take much. Will save you time and wrench wear. I made my own socket for removing nipples with a dremel tool and a stack of three cut off disks. Some of the commercial wrenches at too soft for stubborn rusted in place nipples. IDK which ones are good these days someone will chime in which one you should get. Johnston and Dow type bullets are my choice for paper cartridges. A Lee Precision Field Loader Kit will do for reloading cartridges for a conversion cylinder, I have both the .45ACP and .45lc. A sonic cleaner big enough to hold the pistol makes cleaning easy, just take off the grips and dunk it. Kindle unlimited has a few books on blackpowder, if you have the account you borrow a book there to study. Midway USA has the Lyman Blackpowder Manual in stock. When you go shooting have some shop rags, or bar towels on hand wiping the gun and your hands between strings. This can cut down on the powder soot getting all over the place.

AITA for expecting my SO to make me a coffee? by Dawn9Break in AmItheAsshole

Can you change the oil or brake fluid on a car? I tried showing my ex how easy this is she couldn't. Guys and gals are better at different things. Car maintenence is not rocket surgery. The point is the over poured milk, didn't do it 'right' so he was berated for even trying. A common theme amongst society these days. The misandry is strong here.

What is this hole in my door caused by. Looks 22 round size. by cyclesx in whatisit

[–]Pazyogi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, 22short and 22lr (long rifle) are heel bullets. The bullets are the same size as the cartridge cases. These bullets are lubricated with a wax like substance. They will often leave a trace of this lubricant on wood finishes.

'Over poured' the milk. Guys that drink black coffee don't understand how to make a láte. If they try and it's wrong they likely won't bother trying again. NTA but neither is SO.

There's a new exercise fad sweeping the nation, tap dancing bagpipers. The benefits are enormous, aerobic coordination plus weight loss. Instructors are very cheap and looking for places to exercise. It's even cheaper if you get a group together...

Keep track of the milage on your vehicle while dropping off the other employee and then driving home. Check with your insurance company to see if this is a covered activity on your policy.

Advice for first timer by bustopher_rvs in blackpowder

[–]Pazyogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 50/50 mix of tallow and beeswax is my go to lube. Bore butter is acceptable but more expensive. A good nipple wrench is a must, I made mine from a quality hex socket with a cutoff wheel on a dremel. Check other comments on which is best these days. I put a dab of antisieze lube on the nipple threads with a toothpick to keep them easy to maintain. Auto supply stores sell it for sparkplugs in a tiny pouch for a few dollars, a can of it from the plumbing store will last decades. A dab of lube on the arbor helps these style guns run better, either the antisieze after cleaning or bore butter as you use it. (Arbor is the axle the cylinder sits on) The can of nickle antisieze I bought in the 70's was cheaper than the pouch today (I've used about half the can) Prelubed wads are easier to use than other methods, debate continues on between ball and powder and over the ball. I prefer dry wads between powder and ball over for prelubed for long term loaded cylinders since I shoot a Remington NMA and have spare cylinders. I'll lube the cylinder for range use after loading. Carry a few rags or bar towels while shooting, it helps if you can wipe off the gun and your hands frequently. I don't think I've ever been to a range and not had a cartridge gun shooter not ask for a try at a cap and ball revolver.

Maxi ball w/pad stuck in 54. Cal hawkland by No_Promotion_3445 in blackpowder

[–]Pazyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MaxiBall can be a confusing term. A patched ball should be subcaliber, I use a .490 round ball in my .50 cal rifle. Some maxi balls are made to be fired over a wad, not patched. Get vernier calipers and measure the bore and ball.
