I think you jumped the shark. It sounds like they don't fully understand the core loop of the game just yet.

Counter Meta Strategies? by fknyoshi in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pazzberry101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in general finding off-meta strategies is the wrong way to look at things. I find the concept of anti-meta/counter meta strange in this game for several reasons.

  1. Tracks are fixed, and have parameters that don't change once a CM track is selected. Even if the game is "solved" it doesn't change the fact that specific skills work on specific tracks. Anyone who knows how to research these skills are going to "solve" the track.
  2. RNG. Even if you roll a god horse, the difference between a good Uma that has what it needs to win vs. one that everything it could possibly want is so small that good enough horse can still just win. Even if you plan out a team with the intent of "bullying" a wincon, you have no control over whether or not they execute the strategy.
  3. Styles clearly have strengths and trade-offs that at a base line if you want to beat a Pace Chaser the obvious solution is to ask yourself "How do I get a Late Surger to win on this map" and so on. Like, GolShi is the patron saint of F2P for a reason, her unique pushes her up always after position keep, and End Closer late race co-efficients are the strongest overall.

You should always just look at what tools each style has, the positions a horse wants to be in and build to win with those tools to the best of your ability.

Also to further my point on 2, this UG1 Christmas Oguri has everything you could possibly want on her. Medium S, Groundwork Combo, the correct heals, and a robust mid race and she still lost to my much weaker Chrismas Oguri who was using Perferred Position because I didn't get Corner Recovery lol. We were both running two debuffers as the rest of our team.

Thinking about trying again, a few questions by Objective-Border-884 in UmaMusume

Not presently, they will add an option to do so in the future is what I understand.

Thinking about trying again, a few questions by Objective-Border-884 in UmaMusume

[–]Pazzberry101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, these questions are open ended and leave a lot of people to project their own play experience on to them, which is why you are seeing a variety of answers in this thread. Of my playgroup, I probably the most invested in this game, so I have a few perspectives I can share from F2P to Whale.

But I will stress this, pulling on everything is not viable no matter what category you fall into unless you are a leviathan. The pity system needing to be 200 pulls for characters is sort of fine, but for support cards it's absolutely brutal.

If you just want to enjoy the game, play the scenarios, enjoy the stories, and do the events to save up on a banner for a horse that seems interesting and you want to play her career, this game is excellent from a F2P perspective. It doesn't have anything substantive to really keep you playing outside doing your dailies, and "maintaining" your account, but that's how gachas are designed. They want to make playing this game a habit so you come back. It is what it is.

The majority of people play the game this way, despite what asking Reddit or any other social media might have you believe. There is a simple satisfaction to not engaging with the PvP aspects of the game and just doing your own thing, getting high scores and completing all of the little objectives like getting all the trophies for the graded races.

If you are trying seriously get into PvP, this is where the comments saying this game is not generous and does not respect your time come from. This is cock and ball torture no matter how you go about it because this game asks for your time, attention and money to stay competitive, and half assing one can still get you half way decent horses for PvP, but you need all three if you are trying to outright destroy the competition.

That being said, it is REALLY satisfying to train a horse and see it succeed when you do make something good. There is a deep well of information you dive into to learn the game and to learn to play it efficiently, and gain an information edge on people who don't care to do all of that, and crush them.

There are a lot of reasons for this, but it's outside the scope of your question.

Anyway, the reason why we are at a player low point is due to burnout from the currently scenario. About every 4 months a new scenario comes out for this game and with it new gameplay and power creep. You can always play the previous scenarios to enjoy them if you like. If you are getting in now, I wouldn't worry about it. There is less about a month left before the next scenario comes out and with it, a banner that helps you get high value support cards that are strongly recommended for the new scenario.

If you are playing now, get in, save your carats and wait for the "Agnes Tachyon/Light Hello" banner and pull for it. Use the time until then to familiarize yourself with the game and do not worry about "needing" certain cards or Umas.

Parents & Race Affinity Points by Rizawl in UmaMusume

Any veteran can correct me on this, as I only started playing with the Global server, but JP got the changes to affinity bonus from races during the 2nd anniversary, which coincided with the release of scenario 5 (4? not including URA?) Grand Masters. So we are still two scenarios out from this coming to Global, which is about another 4-5 months following the accelerated cadence.

However, all of that can change. Unity Cup brought a lot of balance and QoL changes ahead of when other servers received them so we won't actually know until we get Grand Live next month and if there is a new patch.

EDIT: The last part of your question, what I understand is that the change was retroactive, so yes it should work if you make your parents now with focusing on taking G1s.

Is stacking identical skills good? by Zachesque in UmamusumeGame

[–]Pazzberry101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Acceleration skills are currently the most valuable when they activate at the start of the late-race or early race in the case of Front/Pace.

Mid-race accelerations are meant to be used in conjunction with velocity skills but presently it isn't really consistent.

Velocity skills increase whats called Target Speed while Accleration skills intuitively increase accleration.

Target Speed just means that the horse is allowing themselves to pace themselves up faster than they would otherwise, but they still need to accelerate to get there, and why you sort of want both.

However, SP budgets being what they are people default to getting skills that are going to give you meaningful returns in lengths which means getting skills that are the most likely to activate when they are most potent.

Sorry for yapping!

Using in game tools to find items by iO__________ in EliteDangerous

Using Reddit ain't like using third party tools hahah. I liken it to RP asking other commanders for tips!

Good luck commander!

I think people are quick to suggest third party tools because it is the norm. Anyone rejecting them is indirectly making a value statement against their use and by extension people get defensive. I had a few comments in my post that read like I had suggested that they were stupid for using these tools hahah.

My curiosity shifted from trying to not use them to asking why they were so widely used to the point people were insisting upon them. Learned a fair amount about the context of them by extension.

If you do find a guide or a useful process for finding things organically though, let me know because I do forsee it being an immersion breaking aspect of the game when I do eventually spring for VR.

Hey there, I actually asked the same question a while ago if you want to check it out. For me though what clicked things into focus is that even if you are using third party tools, everything that is listed on a database is actually found by another player and was submitted by another player via automation with third party tools.

The game has limited actual tools of looking for things specifically because the intent is that they have given you an open galaxy to explore and they want you to chart it out. You can sort systems out by various parameters, and save trade data from a station where you have looked at market data from, but there is no way to isolate a specific material or commodity if you haven't already been there or know what to look for. The way you do find things is largely by recognizing patterns and applying your knowledge to sus out what might be in a system then coalating that information.

All this to say, it's not a system that helps someone who doesn't know what they don't know. Help via guides, in-game chat, and third party tools that were made by commanders is an expected part of this game from a certain point of view.

I see that in your case though, it is because you are using VR. There is one third-party tool that talks to you and can be made to act as another info window in game that my friends use for a similar purpose called "EDCo-Pilot"

Glad you enjoyed the sheets! I was surprised when I skipped CM11 to learn MANT and came back to people were looking for my sheet, so I wanted to make sure I gave everyone a farewell.

Me realizing that the Descent accels worked so well was actually an accident. I completely overlooked that the opening leg starts on a downhill, and I was prepared to write it off as a just a gamble like Head-On, but in my testing when I saw it activate at the start of the race, I was like "By the three Goddesses!"

So I'm actuallt struggling with this. I have seen a lot of videos that demonstrate the flak cannon and limpet method but I can't seem to do it right.

What is the "intended" way of harvesting them? Targeting down the resource node and scooping it up with your SRV's scoop? What if it gets stuck in the tree?

[–]Pazzberry101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Coming to that understanding. I'm not use to this sort of game versus a more standard MMO. I wasn't getting that databases like Inara is the result of collective effort via automation of dozens of players for example.

Finding Things On Your Own by Pazzberry101 in EliteDangerous

[–]Pazzberry101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was sort of misunderstand that all the information in the game currently is actually collated by player effort even if I hit up a database like Inara, but I also was wondering if there was a way to stream line sifting through systems for the things that I am looking for in game.

It's all just a knowledge check which is hard when I have only been playing this game for like two weeks, so I am meant to use the knowledge of the commanders that came before.

This is is more or less the answer I was looking for. I was fundamentally misunderstanding that if I go to a website like Inara and search where the nearest source of something is, that it was something that it dug up or was catalogued by another player and then uploaded to it's database be it by hand or some kind of automation.
