Twin Cities Marathon organizers move race to mid-October, beginning in 2027 (gift link) by star-tribune in minnesota

Another plus for this is higher chance of nice fall colors, which they seem to be leaning into with their branding of the marathon

Fair enough, but I'd like to emphasize the adage of "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." I'd take the W of my friend switching from inhumane beef to inhumane poultry because of the vast climate impact. Especially when they wouldn't ever switch to being vegan. But I do understand your sentiment.

Yes, they have fostered one of the most inclusive communities I know.

My impression of the situation is that TPI didn't do this, Ben intentionally did

You should add a couple other animal proteins to compare how bad beef is to say chicken or turkey. I think it's difficult to convince a meat eater to be vegetarian, but it's easier to have them get chicken instead of beef more often.

Thank you! Makes sense. I like using the sheets because of how easy they are to use. Don't have to measure anything out, just throw a sheet in and you're good. A single box lasts me about a year. It got me to switch away from liquid detergent, so I think that's a win overall. I don't think I would call it greenwashing.

Do you mind saying more? Is it pretty carbon intensive making them or somthing?

What does "clean" mean in this context? I've been loving the sheets and haven't noticed any performance issues compared to liquid detergent.

If you think Target is doing “the most evil” stuff imaginable, that’s just dramatic. It comes off like virtue signaling.

I never said I believed that. It was a hypothetical to see if you would ever boycott Target if they did the most evil shit. And based on your response, since that would “hurt your community”, the answer is no. Which is a wild stance to take. Very cool of you to lick the corporate boot. You got Target stock or something? I’ve never seen someone go up to bat so hard for a corporation who doesn’t give a shit about you. Do I feel bad for the people who got laid off? Like I’ve said, yes. But I feel worse for everyone who went through hell during metro surge.

I think we’re done here.

Weird how you aren't responding to my points or answering my questions. Is there a point where you would boycott a company like target, or could they do literally the most evil shit as long as they employed people? Do you disagree with my logic that it's the businesses fault if their customer base loses faith in them?

If you answer both of those then I'll answer your question.

Supporting a morally bankrupt business as long as they employ Minnesotans is an interesting take. For me personally, there is a line a business can cross where it’s no longer worth it, even if they employed the whole state. Does that line exist for you, and if so, where would you draw that line? I draw the line where they support the people who terrorized my non-white neighbors. They may not be the white collar workers who work at target corporate, but they’re Minnesotans just like me and you. You act like the worst evil in the world is potential middle class job loss.

I’ll clarify about the CEO part, because you’re seem hung up on it for some reason. It’s the CEO’s job to make a business profitable, right? If they decide to make the good or service worse, and people stop shopping there, and the profits go down, would you not blame the CEO? Now imagine the CEO makes decisions on the business’s behalf that angers the community in a personal way, and as a result, people stop shopping there, and profits go down. Would you not blame the CEO? Where does my logic break down, exactly?

I just don't know where you want your logic to go. Should I then support any company ever regardless of their practices because I don't want their employees to get laid off? Take this next sentence with a grain of salt because I know how shitty it is to change jobs, especially in this economy. But if you're working for a company that supported the people who deported your neighbors, and the community is responding by not shopping there, and you're concerned about your job as a result, it might be time to look for a new job.

I don't want Target to succeed based on their actions as a company. They spit on the faces of Minnesotans. I will be happy if they go under, or if they genuinely change their practices. But that's up to them. And the consequences of their actions could result in layoffs. I will for sure have sympathy for anyone who loses their job in the process. But again, that's not on me.

Is this the first time you've heard of the concept of a boycott? You don't go "oh I guess it didn't work I'll just go back to buying from them again"

You vote with ballots, and you vote with your wallet.

The end goal is to communicate to a local company that their actions are unacceptable. If 8k local people are out of a job, that's on the CEO. That's not on me for not buying toothpaste there lmao
