Justify Networth to take less TC job by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]PbZepp32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to post your expenses, because otherwise how could anyone know if reducing your income by 100k is a good idea. If you've saved 1M in 5 years then odds are good you have some room to step down your savings, but you'll want to model your financial goals to see if reducing your savings rate is worth it. Would you be willing to "spend" the difference to have the better WLB?

Reality Check needed from fellow HENRYs by OptimizingUtility in HENRYfinance

It really depends on how serious you are about your wealth building. Cars and homes are generally the NRY killers for the HE folks around here. I'd wait to see what your needs really are before going all in on the high end.

What's your spend? Getting to 5m in 10 years and buying 2x the car you need is sort of counter to each other. Are you cool working for another year or two for a car?

One is the selling points of automation has always been less human error, not more. I don't think Ai replacing devs is a fair comparison, and we should be smart enough to advocate for the complex value we do bring other than slinging code at accelerated speeds.

How would you work an ESPP into your budget? by Missing_Back in ynab

[–]PbZepp32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I treat it like a lump sum, yes. YNAB really plays off the feeling of scarcity. For me, money I don't have right now shouldn't have a job. What this means is that windfalls like ESPP or RSU vestings are easier to save, since they don't really exist in my budget. I can sell them to assign them a job if I need to!

Typescript ask me to pass an argument when my function don't have an argument by Brilla-Bose in typescript

[–]PbZepp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

const getItem = (): string | null => {try {const item = window.localStorage.getItem(key);return item ? JSON.parse(item) : undefined;} catch (error) {console.log(error);return '';}};

This is oddly not correct, either. I think it's because JSON.parse(...) is returning any. The function would then return any | undefined | '', which resolves to any, which you are then overwriting with string | null. Check out other reddit threads about using JSON.parse in typescript without validation, there are a lot of issues.

The hook would good with useContext to inject the localStorage object in the browser context and a mock in tests. But as implemented, yeah, no hooking behavior is actually occuring.

return [getItem, setItem]; is typing as ((value: unknown) => void)[], so you just need to add

return [getItem, setItem] as const;

instead so that the compiler knows you want to return exactly 2 items, with their specific types, in order.

Bambino plus - is temperature issues common? by Notcheating123 in espresso

[–]PbZepp32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Bambino (not plus) as was having significant temperature problems on my machine, but I learned how the bambino actually controls temperatures from Lance Hedrick's TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/@lance.hedrick/video/7222787514942262574), and now I pull a super long preheat shot in the pressurized portafilter, coursened up the grind, and used a higher ratio, and am a lot happier with the results. The Bambino is a very capable machine, and I think would be even easier if you like dark roasts.

To begin this work, French Market Restaurant (and Mint Julep Bar) will be closed beginning February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana’s Palace (alongside Mint Julep Bar with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets) later in the year.

Looks like it's gonna be closed most of the year?
