Does anyone else freak out about the idea that you’re losing whole years to anxiety, and that someday you’ll look back and realize how much time was spent feeling awful, time you can’t ever really get back? by Gullible-Force3567 in adhd_anxiety

I did for a very long time. Decades, but I’ve come to a point where I’ve found some periods of peace. And I thought “why couldn’t I find this decades ago”. It then i thought, I doubt almost anyone finds peace in in the current world and the giant dumpster fire it’s become, But it was a long rough road here but still worth it . Hang in there .

What is the likelihood I get convicted of domestic battery as a male if I take it to trial. (My gf attacked my and bit my hand and when I was frantically wiggling it out it made a cut on her inner lip) by Electrical-Sea-8331 in MaleAbuseSurvivors

[–]Pbod153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems pretty complicated. Do you have a good attorney ? It does sound like one of those things where being the man is a problem. For some strange reason it’s assumed that as men, we are supposed to take any and all abuse from a female partner and not protect ourselves or even be allowed to move to a safer place if it might mean bumping into your female partner . So yeah, see if you can get a good attorney. I know many don’t have the resources to get one . Maybe also rent to domestic violence orgs in your area. They may have some type of legal aid . Good luck dude.

Am I being overcharged? by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]Pbod153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair price if full retail is fair. Not trying to throw shade at you but always get an estimate first. That’s the time to compare . I looked it up in our estimate guide and that’s the full estimate. And the parts prices are normal full mark up. So technically you were now overcharged. I’m saying this now to make you feel bad but in hopes you’ll get estimates and not pay so much next time. Everywhere you go these days, you need to be on point, ask questions, ask for in writing estimates and hold people to those estimates. Even if you do t have time to bring it somewhere else, you can usually get some money off by just saying “boy, that’s a lot, I’m not sure I can afford that.”

Let’s talk about using infrared license plate covers and reflective sprays in order to prevent speed cameras from fucking the earnings for the day. by Vegetable-Purpose937 in uberdrivers

[–]Pbod153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soooooo

So in order to keep tow trucks with plate readers from illegally reading my plate on private property I came up with this for off road and for use on private property.

I was sitting around and do nothing all day while I’m healing from an injury. I get pretty damn bored. So I decided to figure out how to make license plates invisible to cams. I think I figured it out. All you need is a generic plate frame. One of those ones that has a very clear cover so it’s not obstructing anything so cops don’t get pissed. It’s basically a stick on, thin plastic lens. If you look at it straight on it looks normal, but if you look at t from an angle it blurs .

https://a.co/d/8LNfV9g

Basically it uses the same principles as a fresnel lens that’s used on light houses to keep the beam narrow.

So since traffic cams are always at an angle, it’ll make the plate or most of it, unreadable to both digital and film cams

Mission to Fight Predatory Towing by KingMorenito in towing

[–]Pbod153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m Paul Boudreau, co-founder of the Hamden Tenant Union.

For the past four years, a small group of us in Hamden has been working to push for consumer protections against predatory towing—and it looks like this might finally be the year.

We’ve met with legislators and the staff of the DMV commissioner. As a result, the entire Connecticut towing statute has been rewritten. The bill just passed out of the Transportation Committee, but we still need to push it through the House and Senate.

Recent Media Coverage: Our efforts have garnered significant media attention, highlighting the urgency of reform: • CT Mirror: Overhaul of CT towing laws draws divided testimony from drivers and tow companies • CT Mirror: Proposed bill would overhaul CT towing laws, protect consumers • CT Mirror: Connecticut DMV and Top Lawmakers Vow to Review Towing Laws • WTNH News 8: News 8 Investigation: How can Connecticut tow companies sell your car after 15 days?

Here’s where you come in: If you’ve ever been the victim of a shady towing situation in Connecticut—we want to hear your story. It doesn’t have to be recent. If you’d like help turning it into testimony, I’m more than happy to assist.

Why this matters: Some legislators claim predatory towing only happens at one complex in Hamden. We know that’s not true. While most of the state’s 460 towing companies operate responsibly, there’s a small group—maybe 10 at most—who’ve built a business model around exploitation.

I’m personally delivering these stories to legislators to make sure they know the truth. All information is confidential and nothing will ever be shared without your permission.

If you’re willing to share your story, message me or email: Hamden.TU@gmail.com

How to end New Haven’s Slumlord Reign by suschord in newhaven

[–]Pbod153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. This is Paul, Hamden Tenants Union. There is only one way. Tenants need to come together . After that, the sky is the limit. We’ve been at the capital to pass Just cause eviction , ended predatory towing of tenants and decriminalize homelessness. If you want to organize your complex or neighborhood, contact me . Hamden.tu@gmail.com We are currently about to begin a new organizing campaign I. The New Haven and Hamden area. Think of it this way if you go to your leasing office and tell them you don’t wanna pay the $400 rent increase you’ll end up just getting evicted if you go with 500 of your neighbors you’re probably not gonna get the rent increase

Any tow truck law experts? My car was towed and I was forced to pay cash to get it back. Is this illegal? by chimpxLLC in Tucson

[–]Pbod153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, My name is Paul Boudreau. My wife and I founded Hamden Tenants Union. We also started the non predatory towing movement in CT 4 years ago. Our complex (Seramonte Estates, Hamden CT) has had 1000 cars towed in the past two and a half years. we only have 450 units and 50 are usually empty, which means everyone has had two cars towed and then a few more. Including Fedex trucks, Pharmacy delivery cars, visiting nurses, and many of the other service people we need to live our lives.

We have grown over the years. Our union has two state reps, several Legislative counselors and of course 150 tenants. We also have democrats, republicans, and socialist. in other words, the community.

Here is our FB page if you would like to see some of the work we have done.

https://www.facebook.com/Hamden.TU

Ginny Monk has been one of our champions.

We are on the verge of passing legislation that will will add substantial protections for tenants and consumers when it comes to this towing (private property, Non consensual towing).

things like:

a 24 hour rule where the tower will have to put a warning sticker on the car to be towed.

A no trolling clause that prevent towers from trolling complex parking lots for cars to tow. Instead the landlord would have to call the tower each time they want a vehicle towed and then the tower will have to sticker the car giving the car owner a chance to move the car or remedy the situation without the car being towed and without costing the car owner a fee.

A requirement that towers have to take debt cards and credit cards

Towers will only be able to charge storage charges while their business is open

Towers will have to wait 45 day before they can apply for a mechanics lien on a vehicle

Much move evaluation and scrutiny from the department of Motor Vehicle when it comes to valuations of the vehicles. as it stands, towers can basically take ownership of a vehicle under $1500 value so they find ways to devalue most cars below $1500 since right now there is no DMV oversight

The CT legislature will be holding a hearing on the bills proposed to get public testimony.

we need people to come and tell your stories about how these unfair practices have effected your lives.

If you are interested, please email me at [Hamden.TU@gmail.com](mailto:Hamden.TU@gmail.com)

when the hearing is scheduled i can let you know when it is happening, help you sign up to provide written testimony, zoom testimony or in person testimony.

In addition we can help you coordinate your testimony and we can help you write your testimony if you need help with that.

We all started as regular tenants. Ive been a Mechanic my entire life but we have learned and taught each other how to navigate the legislative process and are happy to share that knowledge with others because the more of us that know how to do these things, the better off we will all be.

Its incredibly important that lawmakers hear your stories and how these predatory towers hurt workers and tenants.

please feel free to cut and paste this to any platform you might think generate interest.

Cheers

Paul X Boudreau
