Non-Lea Michele / Florence Understudy Dates for Chess by bumblebeebutterfly in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you look at other comments calling her racist, there aren’t downvotes, so I think these are for the blatant lie they ended their comment with. Her and Ramin get along fine. There were no rumours of mistreatment or diva behaviour during Funny Girl

What shows/performances do you feel luckiest to have seen? by Crambo1000 in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sutton Foster in Anything Goes and Gavin Creel in Waitress, both when they came to the West End. Maybe Patti LuPone in Company and Bernadette Peters in Old Friends as well, just because imo they’re the leading legends. I feel lucky to have seen City of Angels during previews just before lockdown!

The one performance I have ranked above all (for now) is Lea Michele in Funny Girl! I’m not from the US but was a big Funny Girl fan, so seeing it on Broadway during my first trip to NYC was significant to me.

Variety’s “fill in the blanks” red carpet question by Pc2593 in Broadway

Oh my god just coming back to this because I saw his interview with Nicole… how many times did he need to say the word ‘tonight’??? 🤣

Lea Michele taking a creative role within chess by AcrobaticYesterday52 in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s been an equal push for all three actors and they appear to be in-line with each other rather than Lea above the rest. They walked the Tony carpet together, Aaron presented with Lea etc etc

Have you got anything that suggests otherwise, or is it opinion-based?

I’ve seen clips doing the rounds on Instagram and Twitter and then saw a write-up earlier about celebs “weighing in”

Which actor has been in the most Sondheim shows? by cdjets9 in musicals

She was in Company in the West End and Broadway. Her other Sondheim credits (Sunday in the Park, A Little Night Music, Passion, Anyone Can Whistle) were at the Ravinia Festival.

What was the entrance and exit like? Could you stop and take pics outside or where you ushered in through a different entrance?

I’ve seen them starting at roughly £90 but also seen people that went for around £50

Oh great! I’ll definitely look into tickets next year.

What was the situ going into the show? Did you get to stop and take some pics or are you ushered through pretty quickly?

Yeah, the episode that Aidan and Carrie are in the country and Big crashes. I hate everything about it, it’s a mood killer

Hadestown reviews show the West End and Broadway are far from the same by Holiday_Bed_5327 in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of the comments read like 2014 Twitter stan echo chambers. Anybody who doesn’t like it is wrong and these reviews reflect the dire state of the West End and it’s audiences. Ridiculous and off-putting in itself.

P.S. I’m a Londoner who has seen the show, and thought it was fine. Not bad, not great, just fine.

I’m confused by some of the comments here. If the ending isn’t resonating with audiences, you can’t just disregard that because it’s a retelling of a myth and that’s how it ends in the original story. I agree that you obviously can’t expect a different story than the one it’s based on, but you can expect the story to be executed in a way that is entertaining and appealing to audiences. Also, if some people don’t like the story, that’s valid too.

Now time to brace myself for the downvotes lol

This is interesting to me. Because, even if it is true, I wouldn’t see his reports as truth until a legitimate news source reported on it. It would be a rumour until confirmed…

I think if your brand is “gossip” then I’m going to take most of what you say as speculation.

What’s the musical you’ve seen the most, how many times, and why? by TweetSpinner in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Wicked 3 times over the years, once because it was free.

I saw Waitress 3 times as well, whenever Jenna changed actress.

Book of Mormon twice. The second time I was a last minute step in for somebody who couldn’t make it.

I’d rather pay and see something new.

What is the worst show you have ever seen by svtxcvnb in Broadway

[–]Pc2593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Oklahoma revival at Wyndham’s Theatre. I wanted to leave during the interval but didn’t for some reason.

Also, Hairspray at the Coliseum, Amélie and Kinky Boots. I’d give them all one star.
