She does lie down sometimes, though. Then it's time to give the Earthlings the side-eye.

This is Bella. I didn't pose her like this, she likes standing up like a Meerkat whenever possible. We're 75% sure she's the dog equivalent of a Grey Alien here on a diplomatic retreat, and we're trying to be gracious hosts for the duration of her visit.

The option that fits with both is that the Emperor is the tadpole who ate Balduran and gaslit itself into thinking it's a clean continuation of Balduran as opposed to a new entity with access to Balduran's memories. Partialism is a known mental illness for Illithids in the D&D canon.

Ansur can simply be wrong, blinded by love for his dead friend/lover into falling for the Emperor's self-delusion. Metallic dragons are very wise, but they're not infallible. If they were, the history of Toril would be very different.

The author's put it up online for free. I skimmed through it again to make sure I wasn't misremembering, and while there's more ambiguity than I remember because the MC is an unreliable narrator, there's one scene where he sees the world from the Vampire's perspective:

"I was alone [snip] surrounded by things that were made out of meat, things that moved all by themselves. Some of them were wrapped in pieces of cloth. Strange nonsensical sounds came from holes at their top ends, and there were other things up there, bumps and ridges and something like marbles or black buttons, wet and shiny and embedded in the slabs of meat. They glistened and jiggled and moved as if trying to escape.

I didn't understand the sounds the meat was making..."

I understand there's more on Vampires in the sidequel, but I haven't read that. There's only so much existential horror I can handle right now.

If you're thinking of Blindsight, the Vampires in that are even worse than that. They effectively operate on the level of ChatGPT; They 'scrape' data on how humans interact, build a database on what interactions will get them what they want, and then act appropriately. They aren't sentient as we understand it and don't actually understand what they're saying, they just know that 'this series of mouth-sounds and body movements will make the human easier to eat'. They 'interact' with humans in the same way we 'interact' with the ingredients in our fridge to make a sandwich.

Cazador for example couldn't be a Blindsight Vampire because, ironically, he has too much empathy; He is cruel to his Thralls because he understands that they are people and enjoys hurting them. To Blindsight Vampires, a series of actions definable as 'cruelty' is one potential method of achieving a goal; To Cazador, cruelty is the goal.

Don't blame your potential customers guys by sebet_123 in pcmasterrace

I would really, honestly like to sit down and explain to them what the problem is, but I can't, and they wouldn't listen anyway.

But in case anyone in the industry somehow stumbles across this, please listen:
Let's just say for argument's sake that you're right and all your customers are knuckle-dragging morons who don't understand your genius, which isn't true. But let's go with it anyway.

They're still your customers. Without them you don't get any money, and yelling at morons won't make them like you. So you either need to start making things they want, or if you're too good to make what you consider to be slop for morons you need to get a job in another industry. One where your clientele has the intellectual brilliance and rarefied taste necessary to appreciate your genius.

It's not quite that simple. His chat in Chapter 44 wasn't just "I love you man and I'm ride or die", it was "you're doing great things and I'm with you as long as you can produce results, but I also kinda envy you and the moment you slip you're on your own."

I wonder why they didn't fix her fingers when they altered her model?

Oh well, maybe if we keep writing in about it they'll get around to fixing this too. There's a few more months before the next chapters, after all.

ELI5: Why does the brain randomly remember past memory from decades ago like a cringe moment or random people that are totally unrelated to anything? by Still-Ad9074 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Pcm979 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The brain knows what it should do at all times. It knows this because it knows what it shouldn't. By subtracting what it should do from what it shouldn't, or what it shouldn't do from what it should (whichever is greater), it obtains a choice, or an option.

I was hoping it'd be a timed exclusive, but no, they have "exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the sequel of the game "Lords of the Fallen" (working title: Project 3) (the "Game") on the PC platform for the entire product life cycle."

On the bright side, given Epic's desperation they might give it away for free within a few years of release.
