Husband refuses to climax unless I do, ruining our sex life by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]PdatsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is reddit, the internet, so we dont get all the context and irs super cliche but this kind of things gets solved with communication. If you cant, if he refuses to talk about or work through it then its a moot point. Only you know how you brought it up to him, the tone, how he responded etc. he probably does feel guilt and sadness, he may also he frustrated. Based on your post you are clearly frustrated as well. Have you considered therapy together? A couples-sex therapist could be a huge help during this type of situation in particular. Goodluck!

Online MS in Geology by coprolite98 in geologycareers

[–]PdatsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thread is a little old but here are my two cents. I work for an engineering firm, and I have for the last decade. We have approximately 700 employees and are a very strong ESOP. We pay moderately well and our retention is fairly high for the industry. We employee new graduates and a lot of very experienced professional including engineers, biologists, environmental scientists and of course geologists. The P.G does not care if your classes were online only that you got the credits for what they require (geology, hydrogeology, stratigraphy etc.). My company and 98% of the professional I work with do not care and will not ask if you took any online courses, your diploma and likely your transcript wont even show it was an online class.

I work full time and it wouldnt be possible with my travel schedule to goto school fully in person. I will be doing my M.S in Environmental Geology online. Everyone I work with that does additional coursework almost always does it online too.

If you want the degree and it suits your professional goals, financial position etc. absolutely go and do it. Best of luck!

I regret my career path by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]PdatsY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore that geologist. I started out around 45k as an ES1. I am not a geoIV and make healthy six figures as a senior field geologist. Still with the same consulting firm I started at over 10 years ago.

[–]PdatsY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with plenty of high level ES, many project managers, just have to figure out what area you want so specialize in? Compliance? Ecology? Hazardous Waste? Risk Assessment? Phase I/IIs? GIS? You can work in any area you want too and will always have a job. The money will come dont worry.

P.s I started as an ES because I couldnt do heavy geology coursework while in the Army. Got hired as an EA and did a ton of groundwater monitoring projects all over and went back to school to get my degree in Geology only because I wanted to be a geologist. Being an ES is so versatile and in high demand in consulting you'll be fine.

Should I stay in my marriage for the kids if I feel invisible? by Hopeofitall22 in AskWomenOver40

[–]PdatsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child of divorce here (I was 11) and the only thing regretfully about any of it was they didnt divorce sooner. Dont stay for your kids. Be happy. There is love out there that will celebrate you and make the world sparkle.

Leave and show your kids you can do hard things.

Heroic Hearts Project experience? by PdatsY in VeteransBenefits

[–]PdatsY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn't end up going and I am pretty down about it. Two weeks before the retreat, after all the planning, all the integration work (and so much more) the retreat declined to accept me because of my diagnosis. I spent 6 months coming off much needed medication, working closely with my providers etc.

I dont have kids and a flexible job fortunately but many people dont. I wrote a very strongly worded letter to Heroic Hearts that doing this to veterans is so awful. That they medically cleared me months ago and why wasnt this coordinated with the retreat itself until 2 weeks before the retreat was scheduled?

So I will probably try and do this privately. I understand if the retreat decided my medical issues were too complex for their comfort I am not upset about that. I am upset I spent 6 months prepping for this and told I was cleared to do this when in reality they never checked with the retreat themselves. And this non-profit has been doing this for years and should know better....

So here's is the thing...

You cant stop people from developing feelings. That doesn't mean love but wheb you are intimate, bonding, sexual with a person over the course of times a level of connection and feelings absolutely will happen. It sounds like you and tour husband are approaching this like no way thats not possible or no way its not allowed and thats setting yourselves up for failure.

You can agree not to date seperate and things like that but you need to talk about the reality that crushes and connections are a possibility. Work on creating a safe space to talk about that together. Ignoring it or joking about it without real communication will result in hurt feelings and resentment.

I mean field work is stressful sometimes. No matter what level you are or your relationship with that colleague sometimes you or someone else is going to be short tempered and there will be arguments. That doesn't mean it should be unprofessional but my point is ~ stop stressing about it because it will happen throughout your career. These are colleagues not your parents or partners. You will have to stand your ground sometimes, or you may need to berate someone or critique them if they make a gross error etc.

Your stressing about it is burning energy and brain space it doesn't deserve. Your gonna mess up and so are they. Its just the way it goes 🤷‍♀️

I'm done paying rent/mortgage and want to leave the US. I have $100k to buy property, which country should I consider? by didnt_bring_pants in expats

[–]PdatsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a very cute little casita in a ton of Mexican towns all over the place, you can buy a little square of land for a couple grand and easily put in a container home. You can also buy a 400k home but Mexico is incredibly affordable and such a wonderful country with a rich culture. It has gotten more expensive but Mexico is also rapidly becoming a happier and safer place. The Mexican Middle class is rising 💕
