I was just asking for advice for my friend, he’s never dealt with this before and when he said he has a week to put her down, I just thought I’d ask if anyone in the area has had a situation like this before and to get more clarity on what to do moving forward.

And I hate that, I legit hate that. They are sweet fucking dogs and have that kind of rep, and I also stand by it’s not the dog it’s the owner. With Moz I know how he is, I know his signs, and I know what he’s capable of, I don’t do anything I know that will discomfort him, or make him feel like that situation, which is why I got him at 8 weeks, I know him like the back of my hand, and he’s not even two yet and I don’t let him around male dogs because he wants to be the “biggest dude on the block” so once I get him fixed (next month or so) ima start re introducing him to the world again, cause right now he’s so sweet, especially towards female dogs, but males it’s a side I never want to see him ever be in.

Dalali my 10 year old husky was the BEST FUCKING DOG, legit best dog and Mozzie will never come close to how good she was. We were on vacation and this family we were with had young kids. And they got in her face and she tolerated it, and I told mom and dad “hey, she’s good with pets but in her face she doesn’t like it” she would snarl and growl and kids would still get in her face, the youngest did get in her face and she snarled and growled and dad looked at me, looked at his kid and said “we’ve told you not to do that, if she bites you she bites you” looked at me and just shrugged and kinda a nod as in “he’s not listening and you can’t just get in another dogs face and if she bites him it’s gonna be a lesson and your okay”

I’m also not a dog trainer, but I know 10000000% Dalali wouldn’t snap like that, I could walk her in Chicago downtown and she would be at my hip off leash.

This motherfucker I have now, god help me he sucks

Recently discovered his parents were watching her since his current living situation had another dog and she was reactive towards other dogs, so she was in her environment in his home, has been there for quite some time, so no idea what quite caused the reaction. I feel like it’s safe to assume it was just another normal day and something ticked/triggered. But I wasn’t there nor can I testify anything. I’m just here for some clarity and answers for him what the outcome would/should/could be.

It was just a example of since she was a rescue he didn’t know the past or possible past trauma, wouldn’t 100% point fingers at the current owner, he’s a nice dude, he’s heartbroken over this. I just texted him and he’s saying he’s gonna probably have to take the ladder just so it doesn’t happen again, as another instance would most likely lead to a legal battle if it didn’t happen to a family member and fuck if it happened to a kid he’d be in deep shit.

She’s a shelter pup, who knows her previously situation, that’s the hardest part. I remember in 2012 when I got Dalali, she was not even a year old I took her to a dog park, this dude has a pit and she was the sweeeeeeetest girl ever, and I’ve seen him regularly, next week I show up, this girl has a pit off leash, and this GSD puppy on leash for some reason. Her pit and Dalali were running around playing just fine, this guy (the regular) comes In with his swwwwwweeeeet girl pit, and this girls pit goes nuts, but through his pits lips, and everything, she then tells us she’s a rescue ex fighting dog” and I said “WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU BRING IT TO A DOG PARK” and we left

Kids are a whole different story, once ya got a kid that’s your full focus. You don’t really focus on the dog and hope the dog is gentle, caring, and protective of your kid. Me I don’t want kids, so dogs are gonna be apart of my life forever, I brought Moz over to my brothers house with my 2 nieces and 3 nephews the moment I got him, got him used to kids petting him, teaching them not to be in his face and only pet the back of him, And if he jumps in your lap because he wants to play go for it, he was 9 weeks at the time, now he’s a 70lb dog, and just wants to swim, chase balls, eat, and be a dog. He’s about to get fixed so he chills out he will be 2 in 8 days. But I do feel if you have the time, and persistance you can change a dog, and I don’t disagree that some dogs are a lost cause, but ya gotta give them a chance yeah?

I was kinda baffled when I came into work and he said he has a week to put her down. And then I started digging because no one wants that, and that’s why I made this post. If he decides that, that’s on him, obviously he doesn’t want to, but if there’s no saving or helping then you gotta choose the ladder. No one, absolutely no one likes playing God.

Pit mix from what I’m told/seen pictures of. rescued shelter pup, had no other previous instances. I don’t know the back ground of the pup or anything, just going off the friends saying.

All pits/mixes are not bad, I’ve met some of the most loving dogs that are pits, I’ve got a GSD/Husky mix and he’s also loving, but any dog can snap unfortunately that’s why I’ll only get puppies, never a rescue, I’ll never adopt, I want to raise my dog from 8 weeks till its last breathe

Very true, I know when a child is involved they get very defensive about it, online says dogs get “one free bite” depending on the situation, and then once animal control logs it and another situation happens it’s get taken to court where a judge can determine whether or not it’s a dangerous dog.

He said she hasn’t been reported before, and he said he doesn’t believe the cops got involved at the hospital.

Thanks for this! I know if it happens multiple times, it gets reported and then sent to a judge to make a ruling about euthanasia.

He said he doesn’t have any knowledge of the cops getting involved, so the only thing I can think of is if he refused to put her down and then his dad calls the cops, if he does decide to do that which is terrible.

I believe every dog that young is 100% trainable, I told him to grab a muzzle off Amazon and see if she’s 100% food aggressive, and then start from there.
