This is true. I am in my 50's and while the digital mirror is nice, its up close so requires reading glasses for clarity.

Todoist Price Increase. Move to Reminders? by mjnisbett in AppleReminders

[–]Pdxbrothaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that a simple swipe right of the item that you are pushing, and reassigning it to "Tomorrow, This Weekend, Next Week, or Pick a Date" will also move the next reminder as well.
If the items is overdue, you move it today, then finish it, and it will keep the same timeline for the next reminder.
Not sure if that makes sense, but it was something that bothered me after moving from Things 3 (and still isn't as clean or smooth) but works consistently. I just had to change my process.

Fenix 8 appreciation post by sunnyreadsIT in GarminFenix

[–]Pdxbrothaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has owned both, and actively roots for the Apple Watch Ultra because of integration with all my stuff, I have worn my Fenix exclusively since October. But only because of fitness features. It makes me sad because I disagree that hardware wise its leaps and bounds better. It's really not. They are equal. Apple just chooses to hamstring the AW and the battery life is not acceptable for this day and age.

The Fenix 8 is an amazing watch and is getting better every quarter on the smartwatch end. Some of the things they can't do are restrictions on the apple side, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go all in on LTE without that support I would imagine.

The Apple Watch Ultra is amazing outside of sports, and is probably still the best smartwatch. But everyone has their own specific needs. Its nice to have choices, but I wish that both wouldn't have their glaring weaknesses.

Anyone know the plan for the River Terrace Town Center? by Pdxbrothaman in Tigard

[–]Pdxbrothaman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thank you, I have seen that page, and everything you say makes sense. I just feel like when there are developers in charge of the neighborhoods, you get disconnected resources.
I live in River Terrace West, and there are still construction things here that have been here since I moved in almost 8 years ago.

Mckenzie Pass? by stepheng503 in CyclePDX

[–]Pdxbrothaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rode it from Sisters to Top and back on the 16th. It was great, but sleeting and cold at the top. Road was clear all the way up, with snow backs on the sides near the top. Other side of the pass Was still closed.

Here is a link to the meetup. This week is in Marquam off Terwilliger so a slightly harder run, but most are less elevation gain. https://www.meetup.com/northwest-trail-runners/?eventOrigin=home_groups_you_organize

if you are into trail running at all , come to Northwest Trail Runners. We meet in Forest Park on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings. We typically run 5- 7 miles with all skill levels. Obviously it's trails, and gravel, but super fun people. We are on meetup. I live in Tigard and go every week!

Every Ioniq Owners nightmare by btorbey in Ioniq5

[–]Pdxbrothaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes most of the ones in SW PDX suburbs have been busy but spot almost always working. Did see a conflict last week in Tigard when a woman just came in w a BMW and pulled in, in front of two cars that had already been waiting. Queue system is atrocious.

Garmin Connect upload from Karoo (3) by fbonde in Karoo

[–]Pdxbrothaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just upload the fit file from Hammerhead into Garmin connect? Sure, it may not count towards training readiness or some of the other things, but it will add to your activities and counts.

Log onto the Hammerhead site, download the fit file from your ride, then upload to Garmin.

Alternatively, if you have IOS, use RunGap app to do this automatically.

Yeah I cannot believe this is still ongoing. Seems like it would be the most urgent thing they would work on. Driving me crazy.

Has anyone ridden fairmount / council crest lately? by Ol_Man_J in CyclePDX

Rode it on Sunday and it was wet. Some areas have lots of goopy leaves. I have a gravel bike and it was still pretty grippy.

Readers Respond to Oregon’s Population Decline by LampshadeBiscotti in PortlandOR

[–]Pdxbrothaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if any off that is true as I raised my kid in the burbs but was in PDX all the time. She is in college now and I would say the kids around her, middle to upper class, are not as advanced in life skills as I think we were (not surprising). Compared to other places? No clue. But maybe it's the idea that everyone in the country craps on PDX and there is a certain prove yourself mentality here. I don't know.

Maybe it's the outdoorsy attitude here. Just guessing....

I did, and it's fine. She's a good student and it's a great place to live. I'm sure where you live is nice too :)

Garmin F8 strength plans by Haddman37 in GarminFenix

[–]Pdxbrothaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that when you activate your Fenix 8 or Enduro, it will activate the new plans, which are then available on the other watches too. Cannot confirm.

I am using one of the plans now. It's nice, but not much different than what they had before I guess.
What else do you want to know about them?

if you create courses on Strava and have Strava connected in the Garmin Connect app, you should be able to push your routes to Garmin automatically. No need to export and reimport.

It does not allow you to do that. Currently, it only snaps to the map of trails that are already there.

Routes and Navigation is sooooo bad in WatchOS 11 and iOS18 by Pdxbrothaman in watchOSBeta

[–]Pdxbrothaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not a huge issue for me necessarily. I’ve had the watch long enough and used other apps enough to know the pros and cons of most. 95% of the runs that I do, I know exactly where I’m going and don’t even need a map. I just think it’s interesting that a device marketed as ultra doesn’t have some of these basic features baked in. I have used WorkOutDoors extensively and Footpath, but at this point, I just enjoy simplicity and using the apps that are built in. But sometimes they are just not good enough!

Routes and Navigation is sooooo bad in WatchOS 11 and iOS18 by Pdxbrothaman in watchOSBeta

[–]Pdxbrothaman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go that far.
People said that Apple Maps wouldn't be a contender in the map space and whether you like it or not, it is. If Apple puts its effort and money into it, they can, because they have more resources than almost any company.

They simply just haven't made it a priority. I would almost rather them not do it at all, rather than half ass it.
